I Was A Shepherd Once

I woke up in a valley once,

I opened my eyes to the Earthly blues and greens.

I felt like a minnow once,

I was dwarfed by the tall coniferous trees.

My hair were dancing once,

Dancing to the tunes of the mellow breeze.

I was a shepherd once,

I sat in the grass relieved to see my sheep grazing the fields.

I wasn’t lonely once,

The solitude of the surroundings was treading along with me.

I knew no boundaries once,

I could go anywhere, anywhere my will and my steps would take me.

I had no mirror once,

I asked the ethereal, see-through mountain streams to give a lucid reflection of me.

I was carefree once,

I knew no time, I knew no date.

I was a King once,

King of a Hill that had no name.

I was happy then,

Happier than I had ever been, happy to be in that place.

I don’t remember what I was wearing then,

But I sure was wearing a smile on my face.
