Sounds Of Rain
Sounds Of Rain
For hours I watched her many moods
Started with pitter-patter a gentle sound
Enough to take me to the land of nod
Then burbled as though on a rendezvous
To meet her lover waiting in the woods
Angered at being let down, fizzled
Like a rattlesnake in the grass caught
Then started pelting on the window
To wake me up from the state of stupor
Drumming continuously to draw attention
To power, she wielded over earth planet
Sometimes opening up like sprinklers
To revive grass in lawns turned brown
Sometimes violent, sometimes battering
On the roof of my mind, disabling thinking
Like bulb fused, then changing course
Beating a solemn tattoo on the roof
To calm the riot breaking inside me.
Rains have different sounds, different
Ways to placate or provoke mankind.
