Hold Tight

 

Christmas is a time       

for joyful hearts and hopeful eyes,     

as we reflect on times past

and look forward to surprise.

 

Put aside petty squabbles

and pointless vendetta's

and ask ourselves truly,

are we really no better?

 

Spread out your arms

with a welcoming smile

and defy all the ones

who seek to defile.

 

A moment of bliss

so heartily felt,

surrender to the moment 

and let your heart melt.

 

This may be the last time,

for though we pretend,

we really don't know 

when our journey will end.

 

The blink of an eye

is all it can take

for a flame to burn out            

and a warm heart to break.

        

So grab that moment 

with both of your hands,

and hold on so tight,

let you love expand.

        

To cover one and all

with a blanket so warm,

go out of your way     

to keep them from harm.

        

Hold them so tight 

and hold them so near,

never let go 

of the ones you hold dear.

        

Face a future together 

with no shadow of fear.
