Mary
Mary
A cold wind slithers within,
Muttering beneath its breath,
Softly cursing “history repeats!”.
Restless hearts shudder in folded arms boldly defiant.
Walk these waters before the storm sets fire on the sea.
Silent waters peaceful still.
Currents turbid within and I,
Drowning breathless in solitude;
Yet on the surface
Blink, barely blink;
The grail -- a void beneath, brimming, whimpering.
This wine poisoning my mind,
Give in to the seductive heaving.
Beloved, I know not if this be a sin.
Yet drink for the millionth “last time”.
Here’s to love! Here’s to life!
Here’s to magic! Promise me an eternity?
“Silent night”
All the soft lights,
Mary, your boy child, born to die.
Pierce this cross into your heart.
Let every sinew be aware.
Moments of company, promised bonds of departure,
painfully ripped apart.
Resurrect thoughts and memories
made on sleepless eyes.
On cold mind feigning oblivion,
Rather craving hopelessly, tangled beating heart,
Trapped in echoes of the many yesterdays.
Overlapping to paint pictures
of a tomorrow that never came.
