Life's Highway
Life's Highway
Taillights disappeared around the bend
Plunged into darkness all of a sudden
Looked in the mirrors, side and rear
Tentacles gripped tight with unknown fear
Headlights had already been smashed
Felt weighed down and crushed
Ignition was on, humming inaudibly
Poor comfort to stave off the misery
Heard a whisper carried by the breeze
Accept what fate has doled out please
There she stood hooded on the sidewalk
In clothes tattered, torn, willing to talk
Who could be this poor old lady
Waving to me frantically
Tried shutting my eyes real tight
Opened and she was out of sight
Depression had hit rock bottom
Figured out where lay the problem
