Plain Canvas
Plain Canvas
I’m just a plain canvas, let me be.
I don’t want colour to make me pretty.
Let me stand proudly among the sunsets and oceans,
And the portraits of beauty and abstract emotions.
Tell me that I look beautiful, pure and innocent.
Tell me that I don’t need colour to make me luminescent.
You can scowl in disgust and remind me of my insecurities,
But remember your just hiding yours, while I show my anxieties.
I don’t need to hear your voices on the radio, I don’t need to see
Your disclaimers and adverts every second manipulating me. Just let me be!
Let me be a plain canvas. It’s who I am; it’s who I want to be.
Adding colour to your life isn’t wrong. But it’s just not for me.
