Harmless Rebellion

It started as a harmless rebellion. the desire to fit in and venture from the rules. After all, all the kids do it. First, it was the explicit words that slipped off our tongues, hungry for more it turned into provocative clothes and piercings that caught the attention of older boys; their seductive words and tempting smirks undressing us, luring us into their game.

Then it turned into sneaking out, in the middle of the night, running down the streets with hearts racing; we felt alive. And then we didn’t. the vulgar words are now dull and familiar on our tongues, they have lost their enticing effect. The insecurities shone through the clothes that once seemed sexy. the boys turned cruel and we carry the label “tease”.



It started with staying in a room all day trying to shut the world out, then it turned into an obsession to try to numb the pain, smoking in the middle of the night, kissing guys who meant nothing. It all became a blur; drugs slowed the world but it was the vodka that took it away. it became a sedative. a normal part of our day, it didn’t feel right without it. But it all started as a harmless rebellion how could it turn so quickly? it was only yesterday we felt alive, now what’s there left to live for?
