Mother

Mother

She carried me for seven months and two

Inside her form, keeping me safe too.

Full grown, I then stepped on earth

Spreading joys on my birth.

After bearing me, then she did rear

Providing for all the love and nurture.

I was fed on her nectar.

Suckling me, she was my protector;

Spent sleepless nights, at times starved

Yet she thrived on her love that was carved

Gladly did she sacrifice for me!

Taking all care and all pangs did she share.

Busy all the time for me.

Teaching me words till I could speak with flair.

She was my teacher - the first and the best.

O, she is the one who leads all the rest.

She taught me to sit and to walk,

She taught me to eat and to talk.

Her heart bled when I stumbled.

Her eyes exuded tears when I was troubled.

She prays for my good.

Helping me achieve all that I could.

That great woman happens to be no other

Than my sweet and lovely mother.
