The Curse And The Redemption
The Curse And The Redemption
Not long ago on geological clock
There lived a 'goddess' verdant and pristine
Bang came a 'demon' hungry and greedy
And robbed her of her beauty and sheen
With water bodies choked and hills de-robed
Mines extracted and earth deforested
With air polluted and fossil fuels exhausted
Forests squeezed and land over used
The demon left her ravaged and abused
Horrific hurricanes, droughts then dogged
Epidemics floods conflagrations bogged
Climate change threatens his existence
His own grave dug he waits for assistance
His life today hangs by a thread
His only saviour sustainable progress
Respect for Nature environment protection
His only passport to Disaster Risk Reduction
