All That Could Have Been
All That Could Have Been
Trillions of tiny twinkling lights
They remind me of the kisses
that could have been.
Disturbing the fragrance of your fingers,
the wind moves through my hair.
Reminds me of the caress of your hand
that could have been.
Sitting at the bar line of this wheat field
while the ranchers struggle with birds
aware of the empty space beside me,
I am nostalgic of the moments
that could have been.
The sun sets in that corner of the field,
behind those yellow flowers of mustard plants
hides a young couple unaware of the acts of nature,
lost in their sacred moments,
they make me sorrowful of memories
that could have been.
After a tiresome day,
dragging their last load,
that pair of bullocks, reluctant of the task,
Seems to be blaming each other of their toil,
I'm angry over the quarrels
that could have been.
