I can’t look at you in the eyes

Filled with hatred and pain

Mostly a look that questions me

And everything I ever did to you

Is it all a complete lie?

My words come out as stutters

I crumble under your glare

But I try hard to keep up my façade

Smiling brighter than a sunshine

When I’m struggling to hold onto you

My heart was pounding in fear

My brain was screaming at my stupidity

Yes I know what I did was wrong

But at that time it felt so right

You were at the back of my mind, forgotten

I’m only human, I make mistakes

Forgive me just once, I promise again

It’ll never happen, let’s forget and move on

But both you and I know that I’ll break you again

And I’ll apologise in regret a million more times

Yes, I’m selfish! Yes, I’m ashamed!

But I’ve also been with you for my whole life

Maybe I betrayed you a couple of times

Maybe I should’ve listened to you more than once

After all you’re my conscience, forgive me this time too?
