My head high

For I am born

In India and

I am a woman

This country

Is the one

Where woman

Are regarded and worshiped

No, I do not feel deprived

 

I am equally treated

I have not been discriminated

Since ages

Yes I have been exploited

Many a times

But that is not for gender alone

For reasons many

No, I do not feel deprived

 

When ever

I expressed

Be it the olden days

Or current

When I came out

I have been revered

And respected and

Have been given a stature

Perhaps more than Men

No, I do not feel deprived

 

Be it Knowledge (Saraswathi)

Or the power of money (Lakshmi)

Or expression of anger( Kali or Durga)

Nowhere else in the world

I am worshiped

I feel proud

That I am a woman

Born in India

No I do not feel deprived.

 

Be it Indira

Or be it Jhansi Rani

Or the matriarchal tribes

Like Nairs or Khasis

My country allowed them

To come to the forefront

And rule,

No my country

Never discriminated
