On August 15th
On August 15th
I watch the tricolored flag.
Stand tall and sway with pride.
Showering its blessing upon the mass
Of people; young and old indifferent.
A swell of happiness and victory
Overtake my heart as the march begins
And each powerful stomp of the soldiers
Echoes the beat of my heart saying “Jai Hind!”
And when millions of voices unite as one,
Singing harmoniously to the tune of our anthem,
All differences kept aside as we only think
About the love we share for our country.
We recall the names of our freedom fighters,
Their spirits entangled with our lives
And their legacy flowing through our blood.
Their memories are forever engraved into our minds.
And today I fly as if wings sprout from my spine,
Embracing the freedom my country earned
After several years of fight, I watch the tricolored flag,
Soaring high and free in the light blue skies.
