The Journey To The Top

I reach the mountaintop 

Wanting to look at the cities below.. 

But as I get to the highest stop 

I am more interested in the clouds above.. 

Beside me, a lonely tree sways

With a poem dancing around its leaves.. 

“Do you feel grateful for your life?” I ask

With a few doubts dancing around my own beliefs.. 

My friends reach the stop after some time

Letting me know that the company is always available.. 

I look down at the paths we have all climbed

It is clear that our spirits are unassailable.. 

We had all started at different points

Seeking out different paths and different shelters.. 

We had gotten different vantage points 

Aligning with our different faith centres.. 

We all stand together now

Like the clouds in the sky, hope laden..

The lonely tree continues swaying high and low 

I thank Gods for all the roads, not taken.
