POET EXTRAORDINAIRE

Caste under his spell have learnt to live life.

Life unafraid to face, now free of strife.

Strife at being born with stumps for hands,

hands that cannot sift through golden sands.

Sands pose challenge for a bow legged dwarf.

Dwarf abandoned at birth, laughed and scoffed.

Imperfections he perfected with silken words.

Words describing stumps as rose buds stirred.

Stirred emotions which swept away fears.

Fears that gripped the heart, brought tears.

Tears wiped away with blotting paper

Paper with words creating image makeover.

Smile I can, now with renewed confidence.

Confidence the poet saw in my dwarfed state.

State of mind he changed with gentle strokes.

Strokes that in 'new me' myriad feelings awoke.

Awoke to the realization he was par excellence.

Excellence bestowed with powerful senses.

They say Poets are the best change agents.

Agents who get under the skin of subjects.

Subjects turned from ugly to beautiful people.

People fall in love with poets, none can equal.

Equal measure of love to him cannot return.

Return will fall far short of what he's done.

His Poetry has made me once again feel whole.

Whole world had collapsed for my parents told.

Told not to harbour any hopes of acceptance.

Acceptance came in the guise of words written.

Written to soothe deep scars in my soul hidden

Hidden myself, now self released from prison.
