Do You Remember?
Do You Remember?
Do you remember those evenings
When we would hold hands so dearly, letting our fingerprints kiss
That when our hands came away
Your fingers would have to unlock my mobile
And my fingers would have to unlock yours?
Do you remember those nights
When we would stay conversing, completing each other’s sentences
That the next morning
You would have to write in my dream journal
And I would have to write in yours?
Do you remember those mornings
When our bodies would wake up as one
That when we hit the gym
You would have to work out for my muscles
And I would have to work out for your bones?
Do you remember those afternoons
When our minds would be mapping the same ideas from different offices
That before the monthly business reviews
You would have to prepare my presentation
And I would have to prepare yours?
Do you remember those days
When our biggest fear was to stay separated
That is our home
We had only one chair, one coffee mug, one yoga mat, and one towel?
Do you remember those days
When our beloved poems were written together?
I would come up with a title
You would sing out the first line
I would ponder over a rhyme
And you would whisper the punchline.
Do you remember those days?
Because, my dear, I do
Though of late, it is getting difficult
To meet those memories and pay our due...
After all these years
I am visited more by memories that are fresh and new
I try hard to keep our long-lost love alive
But life is simply flying away so fast to be true.
