When She Finally Let Go

She sat crushed so she thought on the floor-soaked pillow of her tears. She cried out her heart alone that dark lonely night many years ago. She thought of revenge but it was her love life that brought her down once more.

As she cuddle herself alone in the dark corner of her room that night. It soon dawned on her that she had to make that change within. Though it was impossible with the little in her pay packet she pursued her goal to prepare mentally and spiritually.

Each sunrise was a time alone with God and each setting sun was a time to be thankful again to God. Each day she'd remind her boys to start packing only what they needed for school. Throw the rubbish and give to other children clothes they had grown out of.

A month before the close of the school year, she received an email informing her to submit in writing her application for a position at one of the school's miles away across the sea. On bended knees that night a prayer of thanksgiving she offered to God. Words could not be expressed how thankful she was for her dreams had come true. She shared her story with her closest friends and family. All shared her happiness and joy.

Two months later she boarded a flight for her new job at an Anglican church-run school. That day was a day filled with mixed emotions. The pain of leaving her childhood home friends and family took her mind and heart. She watched through her tear-filled eyes the land below that sailed passed and wondered if she would ever again return to the land that was home to her and her siblings and even her son.

But she also knew it was time to move on with her life. Her past would now be a memory and ahead was a life she and her boys would now live. She sighed and looked at the snow-white clouds that covered the land below.

She had been a captive to deafening silence for years. Fear and doubt kept her from moving forward for her mind was weak. She was told that she would never make it in life alone. That she'd also lose a child if she thought of leaving. Those were strings tied to her that kept her a slave to those words. But she gathered the strength and made that turn in life, packed up and moved out.
