When Beena Woke Up...

When Beena Woke Up...

It was a bright, sunny day. Beena woke up and started getting ready for her school. It was her first day of school. She was so excited that for some minutes she was just dreaming about how the school might be. It was no longer that she came to know that absentmindedly, she was pulling a hat in her foot instead of her sock while dreaming. She got ready after wearing all the clothes properly. She ran downstairs to the kitchen for breakfast and started eating hurriedly.

“Beena, eat slowly! We are not at all late,” said her mother, now looking angry because Beena was not listening to her.

“Don’t worry about me, Mom!” yelled Beena, still stuffing food in her mouth hurriedly. Her mother stared at her for a moment and then sighed.

After one minute or two, Beena jumped off her chair, pushed the plate front in which she was eating and started walking towards the basin. Then, there was a voice which made her so startled that she jumped up to the basin instead of walking.

“Beena, complete eating your bread!!” yelled the voice. Beena turned to look back. It was her mother shouting behind her.

“I don’t want it, Mom,” said Beena and she washed and then wiped her hands, ran upstairs, picked her packed bag and excitedly hurried towards the door.

She asked her father where she is going to get the school bus. Her father said that he will come with her. She agreed but didn’t even dare to look at her mother as she was already angry with Beena. She stood with her father at the bus stop for the bus to arrive. After being tired of waiting for half an hour or so, she finally asked her father who was standing beside her, when the bus was going to arrive. Her father said that it will be here soon. Beena sighed. She felt weird when she heard the horning sound of the bus. The unusual thing, which made Beena feel weird was, the sound was coming from the manhole in front of the bus stop.

Out came the bus from the manhole, just like lava coming out from a volcano. The bus was Emerald Green coloured, not having much design but was not at all looking like a real school bus. There was a mixture of frightening, disguise and shock on Beena’s face. She stared at it for a moment of awkwardness, her mouth wide open and then asked her father:

“Is this the bus I am going to school in?” Her father nodded in agreement as she said this, rather looking cheerful. She sighed again as she stepped into the bus where she found that the bus was too big from inside than it looked from outside. She was amazed. The bus was full of students leaving only three seats, so she sat down in one of them, looking around.

The bus started. It took the speed of a real bus. Beena generally loved bus journeys so she was enjoying this too. While looking around, Beena saw that some students had something with them which was moving and breathing fire. Soon she came to know that they were small models of dragons. Though she was shocked, she was excited to know which school it was. She also felt strange that why didn’t the bus again dive into the manhole. Soon, she got her answer. The bus was going ahead to take the remaining two students whose seats were left. Beena tossed her pure black hair back in excitement.

A girl had just entered the bus. She had curly, brown hair which she had tied in a ponytail. She sat down beside Beena, who just asked the girl her name.

“Komal,” the girl said, smiling

“Hi Komal, I am Beena!!!” said Beena, introducing herself too.

“Oh, hello Beena!!” Komal said, gracefully.

Just after that, another girl stepped in. She was a 10-year old girl just like Beena and Komal and had brownish-black hair. She sat down in front of Beena and Komal. Soon the new girl introduced herself to them and they came to know that her name is Suman. The three became good friends as the bus dived back into the manhole. In their talks, Beena came to know that it was a different type of school which not even their parents knew. They also named their group as:

“The Magical Trio!!!” The three said in a chorus and laughed.

Soon, the bus stopped and talking and laughing noises were heard in the crowd which had just jumped off the bus. After 5 minutes or so, Beena noticed a big, tree-structure, hanging a beautiful lantern in a branch was approaching them. When everyone saw that structure, they were shocked but excited. As the tree was close enough that everyone could hear, it said:

“Welcome to ‘Nivorgian Adventurous School’ but before coming inside, you must keep your things on the bus itself.” Once everyone had obeyed the tree’s orders, the tree asked them to follow it. Everyone did the same.

The Magical Trio was also looking around because the surroundings were awesome. But everyone was more attracted towards the Driget Stadium. The tree told them that once they are trained, they will be allowed to play Driget there. There were too young for it because it was being played on huge dragons with the same rules of cricket played on earth. After that, they went into a room full of different types of trees and huge underground animals and insects. They told everyone that there are 4 sections named:

 Bilby  Swiftlet  Pika  Fennec

“This is an underground school. As we have asked your parents about your behaviour, you are already sorted in your respective section. But before that, keep this in your mind, what I am saying. So! Listen! You are allowed to go to your homes only after a month and then you will be back here. Yes! But in Diwali, Christmas and summer, you all will be allowed to go home. Any question? No? Then follow me,” said the tree, hoarsely, without even looking whether anyone really had questions. They followed the tree to a desk in the room, where names and sections were written. Fortunately, “The Magical Trio” was in the same section, Fennec.

Once everyone was given their section, another tree named Orion, arrived and said that he was the head tree of the Fennec section. Once every section’s head tree arrived, the Fennec section followed Orion till their rooms where they were going to stay for each month.

Next day, at 7:00 in the morning, every section was told to be ready with their language books given to them. When Beena opened a cupboard it was full of only language books. So she took three of them for her friends too. The cupboard next to her was labelled “STUDENTS”. Beena opened it and saw that everything the students had left in the bus on the Tree’s order, every single thing from it was brought there. Beena was so amazed and she called everyone and shows them too. “Wonderful!!!!” everyone said together.

At 7:05, they followed Orion to the language class. There was a big Olm, an animal which leaves underground. It said :

“Good morning students! I am your teacher for this whole year. I am only going to teach you languages and Dricket”. Everyone was very happy.

“Forgive me, I didn’t introduce myself. Just keep in mind that Olms are very forgetful,” he said, smilingly. Nearly everyone laughed. He smiled again and said:

“so, today we are going to learn ho---“.

“Sorry to interrupt you sir, but you were going to tell your name,” interrupted Komal.

“Oh, right sorry. So my name is Triglle. You can call me Sir Triglle,” he said facepalming. Everyone laughed again which made the class cheerful.

The class was very enjoyable. Sir Triglle taught everyone how to speak the language of the real world’s Owls and Dragons which were unknown to real people. For one month they did the same and no one even noticed how one month got over.

After one month, they again sat into the Green Bus and Suman noticed that their things were back again in the bus. This time everyone said “WICKED” together and laughed.

Once they had again been taken to their bus stops, Beena‘s father was standing where he had left her. “So, how was your day?” he asked as she got down. “Day?” Beena repeated. “I was there for a month!!!” “Oh Yes! I forgot to tell you that the underground world’s one month means the real world’s one day,” he said quite expressively. “Really?” Beena yelled sounding amazed. “Wow! That was really magic!!!”

Her father nodded in agreement and said: “now let’s go home, tell me and your Mom about your experience because in five hours you shall be back there!” She agreed and followed him home. She told them everything. Her mother served her food and water when she was telling about Dricket. She also told them that now she can talk to Owls too. “I know what that Owl, which is in our garden is saying, you know?” Beena said cheerfully and drank some water which accidentally spilt on her face. She opens her eyes seeing her mother waking her up and saying she getting late for school. “Was it a dream?” Beena thought. “Or am I really going to that school now?”
