LUNCHING

"This is not done!"

The fairies composed her. There was no reason she had to be frustrated. What mattered at that moment was that she was the chief, no matter what someone else would do. They deserved a good party.

"This is a prominent idea," land fairy said, "food is on me and fire fairy."

"I will handle the guest's list," said water fairy.

"lights and decoration," said light fairy.

"I am taking care of the games," time fairy said.

"Done," said land fairy.

"Wait. Something is missing," said fire fairy, "music comes second."

Merlin entered. His face was full of happiness.

This is not my brother. My brother is not this. He is nice. He is really good. He is responsible and the caring one. He'd sacrifice everything for me.

"Your friend was asking for you," Merlin said to Elizabeth, getting her off from their attention of the party planning. "You ran away?"

"Is it really you who set that fire?" Elizabeth asked.

"I dozed it off too."

She stood disbelievingly. Her own brother had disappointed her. There was not seeing the logic to sabotaging hers and the locality's feelings. What did he achieve doing that?

"You be whatever you want. But in everyone's eyes, I'm their hero. That will never change."

"You destroyed people's properties!"

"You took away my dream from me."

"I feel like I'm talking to a brainwashed maniac."

"Because he is," a weak voice came from the door.

She was dripping red and covered in bruises. She was bent, her arm protecting her tummy. In the next second, she fell to the ground.

"Air fairy!"

Elizabeth and the fairies ran to the floor. The fairies were crying. Each of their foreheads glowed six gold dots then one faded into blue. And the dots vanished. The fairies cried even more.

"What is happening?" Elizabeth questioned, worriedly, "what happened to her?"

"We can only know that once she wakes up," fire fairy said.

Their stare on Merlin just spoke everything. They were irked and holding him responsible.

"We have to take her," light fairy told Elizabeth.

"Will she be alright?"

"Yes. Don't worry."

The fairies vanished.

Elizabeth looked confused. In a span of a day, her life had completely turned over. She was feeling suffocated in the new outfit she suited in. Around her were shenanigans giving her headache. She fetched a painkiller that rendered her into a better world.

In the morning, she vandalised the fridge for pizza. Of course it was empty. She frowned with the thought that she had to restock her pizza fridge.

She smiled when the teacher was leaving the class. Her yawn sent her back to her last night sleep and the event before it. She hoped that wind fairy was then okay. She planned, she would contact the fairies as soon as she was out of school. Just then, it came in her head that she could contact them through her forehead.

As quickly as she hid at a corridor corner, she punched a finger at her forehead, not sure if it would really work because it was the first time she was doing it. She was checking the stereo sounds, having the idea that the response would come like the one of a phone call.

She heard a sound coming from nowhere, it was land fairy's.

"Is everything okay?" asked the fairy.

"How is air fairy?" Elizabeth asked.

"She will be alright. Water fairy is coming for you," light fairy told her.

"No, no, let her take care of air fairy."

Roan saw her blubbering to herself, hiding at a corner. She quickly cut the contact from the fairies while Roan was questioning her. In her defense, she rushed to the class, telling Roan they were missing a class.

"It's lunch, let's go," Grace told her best friend.

She pulled her by the arm and dragged her out of the class. They took the stairs to the lunch room where the boys sat afar from the girl.

It was not mandatory that way but eventually they were accustomed with that. It changed so much that girls and boys had different stairs for lunch room. But at times, the boys used the girls stairs' as well. Also, the washing sinks for washing hands and the water dispenser was on the girls' side. Hence, there was no barrier rules and boys and girls. They used to sit together, just not most of the times.

This fact was a good thing for Merle because he could not keep his eyes off Elizabeth. Of course, almost everyone always used to notice but that day he was being so obvious.

"Liz, that boy can savor you with just his eyes," Grace said.

All of Elizabeth's friends who had joined the table agreed. Merle felt too shy when Elizabeth's friends noticed. He faced his plate nervously while Roan grabbed him from his back. He whispered in his ear and laughed loudly before he grabbed the chair next to him.

Elizabeth and her friends stood from their chairs after they finished their food. They followed her walking to the boys' section. She walked closer to them intentionally, leaving the huge walkway that was empty.

"Hi, Merle," she waved.

Merle choked. He nervously sipped from water glass while everyone was surprised.

"You know his name?" Judith asked.

"Hey, Elizabeth," Merle stammered, "hi."

Elizabeth walked away with her friends. The boys started teasing Merle. Most of them were asking how she knew him. It was almost every boys' dream in the school, to hear Elizabeth saying hi to them.

Roan was especially into Elizabeth. He'd tried at times to talk to her, wanting to go out with her but Elizabeth never gave him importance on that.

Roan was making fun of Merle when he knew that Merle had no chance being with Elizabeth. But now that he could see that possibility, he could not bare it. He stopped Merle with the same question as everyone's.

"How does she know your name?"

Merle felt intimidated. The bell rang so he ran away. But Roan ran after him.
