It takes a lot of physical effort as well as a mental exercise in order to gain it. It is a reverberation of one’s struggle and fights against hate and opposition to the individual’s ideas – that when one gains it, it becomes the cause of change in the way people think. Tokyo is one of the cities out there in the world, that can actually relate to the truthfulness of the previous statements. Tokyo, the city of neon lights, cherry blossoms, and the current, official capital of Japan – if observed its history has been attacked quite frequently and more dangerously each time.The city in return has provided nothing but betterment every time and stood up rubbing destruction from its shoulders and showing the world how to not let the opposition win. If this mentality is so aspiring and victorious in itself, then the city is nothing but a land of success and that’s what leaves the world in wonders of it. This place was originally a fishing village under the name Edo and was ruled by Tokugawa Leyasu . This place gained popularity for its flourishing knowledge in politics and cultural events and soon became the centre of Japan. The population as a result, of this city, went over a million during the mid-eighteenth century. The emperor resided in Kyoto until the Meji Restoration in 1868 took place. It was approximately 260 years after the foundation of Edo and this restoration contributed to the ending of Tokugawa Shogunate and helped restore imperial rule. After this, the Emperor shifted from Kyoto to Edo which was later renamed Tokyo. After this identity change of the city, it had been bombed many times and a few great examples of these attacks can be:- 1942, Doolittle Raid and 1944, B-29 raids which left several deaths, injuries and homeless folks. However, Tokyo currently resides in peace for about 4 years, as the last time it was involved in a war was during the 2009-2016 period of Operation Ocean Shield when Japan got involved. Though it wasn’t as terrifying as the raids of World War II, it definitely wasn’t a period of peace for the city either. Tokyo has been one of the world’s leading business places, scientifically prosperous location, a luxurious food base and foreign educational choice recently.So to tell the tale in a compact manner, the city is in its bests now. Now, even if we talk about its socio-cultural status it takes out the best of new trends, fashion statements and tries to extract the best of other cultures. If this isn’t interactively winning the game, then what is it? People cannot exactly overthrow this city in any field. Tokyo as mentioned before is a popular opinion among students who want to study abroad now. Many universities there, offer English -taught courses and various extracurricular activities amongst the usual degree acquiring syllabus. Sophia university happens to be one of these universities. It is located in Tokyo and has scored a position in the top ’30s of the QS Japan university ranking. It offers a various range of courses and has a distinctive way to boost progress in students.Now if someone talks about Tokyo’s scientific inventions, they are quite widely known to be very different and made for easing out daily life activities. Tokyo thinks about developments of these sorts because the Macro Percentage of Tokyo’s Population happens to be senior citizens. Tokyo has also provided foodies with great pleasure. Tokyo’s famous Sushi is an excuse to travel to Japan and spend those pockets with contentment. Even 44th U.S. President Barrack Obama thinks so. He had traveled to Tokyo to devour its famous Sushi. Despite America-Tokyo’s bitter past, Tokyo is more than willing to give a chance to wrap it up all and extend friendship towards the United States. Tokyo certainly knows how to win hearts. However, back to education and Science - Tokyo’s scientific success goes back to very old times. But, science being a topic that looks forward to future and present betterment, it would be better to discuss Tokyo’s recent successful personas in the field of science. Such one personality happens to be named Hiroshi Komiyama.Born in Tokyo, December 15, 1944 – Mr. Komiyama is a member of the World Knowledge Dialogue’s, Scientific Board.In 2013, he became a judge for The Queen Elizabeth Prize of Engineering. Komiyama was awarded the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Award in 2017. Or, Katsuko Saruhashi. She was born on March 22, 1920. Saruhashi was a geochemist. Her measurement of the amount of CO2 present in seawater was a famous work. She presented people with knowledge of the dangers of radioactive fallout. Besides her researches on human safety, she has also provided quite the report on peaceful uses of nuclear power.She has also worked towards women’s rights in studying science and had established the educational center – “Society of Japanese Women Scientists”. She also established the Saruhashi Prize, which is named after her and is annually awarded to a female scientist who serves as a role model for younger women scientists. She was the first woman elected to the Science Council of Japan, to earn a doctorate in chemistry from the prestigious University of Tokyo, and to win the Miyake Prize for Geochemistry.

This wonderful woman left the world on September 29, 2007, of pneumonia in her home in Tokyo at the age of 87. Likewise, this is the case for Tokyo’s success in arts and business. Tokyo seems to like to stay trending in everything and such do its citizens. It has provided talented artists to the world. The name Nobuyoshi Araki may ring a bell. He is primarily known for blending human desires and bondage into fine art concepts and he has published over 500 books. His last prestigious award travels back to 2008 when he received the Austrian Decoration Award for Science and Art. His rumors unfold to be rather controversial but he has a talented hand for photography. Another such person seems to be Yoko Ono. She is a multitalented woman. She is a singer, artist, songwriter, and peace activist. Some of her famous songs are Season Of Glass, Warzone, Fly, and many more. In 1982, she won the Juno Awards (International Album of The Year and Album of the Year)for her Album Double Fantasy, in which she collapsed her first husband John Lennon who is a rather talented artist himself. Or, Keiichi Tanaami is a pop artist, post-war from Tokyo. He is also multitalented. He has an equal potential for graphic designing and illustrating. Like this city, this personality also likes to stay updated. His works are influenced by modern means and forms of artwork. He has written several books and worked for several movies which include Killer Joe and Tokyo Loop respectively for example. He has received a lot of respect and love for his work from around the world. His work ‘NO MORE WAR’ still tends to be quite famous. Not much is known about business leaders from Tokyo, but Tokyo is still one of the world’s leading economic spots.

Now, coming to sports. These days, sports have two ways of being played. Both online and offline. So, let’s elaborate on both. Gaming is also a form of art. And art does not only need an audience, but it also needs an artist and such kind of an artist seems to be Hideo Kojima. His contributions to the gaming world are immense. This man, whose Metal Gear title is known by many, influenced the game world immensely. He is a producer and director besides his gaming abilities. If talking about offline gaming, many have heard about Shingo Kunieda. This wheel-chaired tennis player was ITF World Champion from 2007 to 2010. He also received a Grand Slam in Men’s singles. Even if we don’t talk about famous people, Tokyo’s development of the Olympics is a great achievement for the city too. It has taken Tokyo’s Success to International heights. Totaling the results, Tokyo has fetched respect and love from people in a lot of ways. May it continue to prosper like this, under God’s Holy Eyes and people learn about it more under its famous namesake – Tokyo’s Success Stories .
