The thunderous roar shook the lightning struck sky as the silky fingers of rain dripped from the gloomy clouds. 'The Captain wishes your presence ma'am!' the thin military recruit exclaimed with a slight dip of his head. The drops of rain pattered across Naina's nimble form as she crouched against the dragon. The blood gushing from the recently ruptured blood vessels of the dragon's torn neck seemed to bite her gloved hands. 'Ma'a-' the recruit interrupted. Naina glanced up from her stupor as she gazed, alarmed at the sudden blaze of warmth. The dragon, a sleek Chinese breed with black ebony flesh, slit its eyes open with a sharp inhale of fire as red as rubies, and twisted its scaly form against the bony arms of the young scientist cum agent. Pain shot through her vessels as she struggled against its crushing grip. The cold clambered against her arms in scaly vines as the intense piercing of the fire draped across her body like a confining xxx. The thunderous boom of gunshots resounded in her ears while the fierce pain compressing her struggle. Naina gasped and spluttered against its choking grip when she saw the recruit, gripping his rifle like a sword, a taste of trepidation lingering on his face. Her vision blurred with each bloody second as the pain whipped out in lashes. Naina knew she wouldn't die. God would not let her die. The chilling spray of the river hissed against her grimy face as the venomous dragon, with his flesh blemished and its snake like slits, yellow and dark, glared with new found rage against the girl. The dragon roared with agony as its blood dripped like molten iron into the murky body of the brunette as her opal white lab coat drenched in tar-black dragon blood . She couldn't struggle any longer. She didn't want to struggle any longer. Thin raspy breaths filled her punctured lungs as her rose red blood dripped from her broken nose. Not wanting to struggle against the tormenting pain, Naina let the probing darkness swallow her, leaving a taste of abject terror in her veins.

The first thing Naina saw when she woke up was a soiled ceiling, tearing apart like the pieces of the dragon's flesh. She felt a moment of rising panic as bile rose up against her stomach. Naina felt numb, like the crushing pain had been sucked out of her body, like some fool had injected too much of anesthesia. She rose up from the cot, loosely hung against the tiled wall to her back and calmed her panicked mind. The room was small, with one visible entrance to the right and a small ventilator above 6 feet of the ground. Opposite to her was a small shard of mirror dangling on sharp nail, reflecting her bruised face, puffed and ugly, a white gauze wrapped around her head and cheeks, her hand- she gagged as her hand fell on her lap, burnt to a deep black and pus lining her decayed wrist. Her legs were mostly unharmed with just a broken ankle. The numbness seemed to be wearing off as she took in the smell of a dead corpse wafting in the stale air-and the realization that infected her mind with a wretched dread. It was not a miracle that she came out unharmed. In the scenic setting of an approaching war dawning on the world, in the midst of the Taliban uprising in Afghanistan and Ukraine in middle of a war against Russia, there was only one person who would be able to depict such an intricate healing ability.

It was someone she thought she had escaped long ago

'Your emotions. Don't matter, throw it away and let it rot.' Naina took a sharp breath as the words of Major Siva, her mentor, flooded her brain. The light was scarce, and she slid off with a slight wobble, with a little hastiness mixed in her awkward movements conscious of the pain about to come when the numbing agent wore off. She really hoped it wasn't him. She really hoped she wasn't back there, in that hellhole. Naina pressed her ears flat against the flat door, whilst holding the loose doorknob tight. It was quiet. Too quiet. Impossible. She wasn't in in the arms of Indian military, or RAW, and it shouldn't be so quiet. She took a sharp intake of breath as the pain pierced her nerves for a moment before subsiding. She tried not to wince when Naina imagined the aching throb about to come and pushed open to door by an inch. She would not like to take a step forward without an thorough 20m scan from her pet, which was a crossbreed between a dragon and a raven , but her pet was not here and Naina was alone. Her black jeans were ripped until her tighs and Naina's tank top was draped with brown gauze. A burning sensation filled her lungs.

Naina could step out and surround herself with tumultous danger, or she could gather intel on the terrorists and support her country, like she had done all her life. Dread filled Naina's heart as she supressed it without a moment's notice. No. This time she would carry out her plan prioritizing herself.

A chill passed through her spine as a hand struck, with the sharp cold knife pierced her skin. 'Stay still Mehreen. I won't harm you.' A raspy voice filled the air. Jaheed. Naina's hand was stinging as she pushed against him, flinging her right arm across the knife and felt blood drip from her hand. Jaheed chuckled. 'Shh.The Great God is watching Mehreen.' Mehreen. Naina twisted from his tight grip gasping, but the anesthesia was wearing off and she felt herself weaken against the Jaheed's grip. 'You know the Drante Breeding Emporium, I presume?' Naina let out a panicked screech. She was not an amateur, she assured herself of that fact, as she assumed her calm demeanour, trying not to gasp in pain when her burnt arm stinged. Drante was a crossbreed between the seven headed snake and the all seeing Opale bird. Both of them were thought to be extinct.

Both of them were native to Pakistan.

'I want you to destroy it. I want you to destroy the eggs, and by morning Kashmir will be ours.' 'Why do you think I will do that' I muttered.

I possible. There was no way Jaheed would know this. The existence of Dranste eggs and the location of the breeding emporium were leaked. This was fatal. A Mistake that could cause India it's life.

'A Phoenix blood in exchange for the destruction of the emporium. Fair?' he whispered into her ears. Naina paled, as her consciousness began slowly dimming and pain in her chest flaring up against the tight grip. She stomped her leg against Jaheed foot and tried to twist his knife held hand away but the shock of the realization and the pain in her arm grew worse, and soon she was in the darkness once again

There was one thing for certain though. Phoenix blood which was used for healing purposes belonged to only one organization in the entire world:The Great God Organization
