The Stalked Assistant (Chapter-25)
The Stalked Assistant (Chapter-25)
Later that evening Amanda stopped me as I'm packing up my bag to leave for the day, Ryders was in his office since we got back and I was nervous that Amanda would think we left her out and when I got back to the office I even pulled her aside to make sure that wasn't the case. I don't want to leave her out. I told her that Ryder wanted to talk about meetings but she had literally told me to hush about it and it wasn't a big deal and that she was happy that after the morning I had had, that Ryder took me for lunch.
"Are you okay going home? I can go to sleep with you if you want? I don't want you to be scared. I would say we could go to mine but we need to make sure that sicko doesn't get back into your home" she said, leaning her hips against my door frame watching as I stuff my tablet and paper work into my bag.
Actually I'm so happy that she asked that, I am scared of going home alone, I just didn't want to ask anyone for help but I'm learning that sometimes it's okay to rely on people and definitely someone who's now becoming my best friend.
"Would you mind? I wasn't going to ask you, but yeah I'm a bit scared" I whisper out, trying to stop the emotions rushing Inside me and I feel my eyes starting to get watery.
"Of course, I don't mind. I'll head home, pack a bag for the next few days and then meet you there. Sounds good?" She asked looking at me with a soft smile on her face, which makes me happy, happy that I have her here with me even if she doesn't know my real problem.
"Sounds perfect, Amanda, thank you so much" I smile at her back as she walks away heading to the elevator.
Once I'm done packing up, I head to the door, but I hear Ryder calling for me inside his office.
I head towards his office and I see that for a change his doors actually open, that's pretty weird, even though the doors open I knock softly before walking through.
"Yes, sir" I asked as I stepped inside his office seeing him going through some emails on his tablet that's laying flat down on his desk.
"Remember, let me know about your locks. If they didn't come change them.. well" He clears his throat, and starts to look a little bit nervous.
What's wrong with him?
"Are you okay?" I asked walking closer to his desk to get a good look at him, maybe his getting sick.
"What? Oh yes. I'm fine. I
was going to say I have a few guest rooms. If they didn't fix your locks and your scared, you could maybe stay in one of them" He whispered so softly I seriously almost didn't catch what he said.
His offering me to stay at his house?
Why would he do that?
Why am I even questioning that? His being nice and he seen first hand, he seen me shaking on my bed this morning hell he even held me as I cried all over him.
"That's actually very nice of you, Ryder, I would definitely take you up on that because your right I am scared. I'm terrified, but Amanda said she was going to stay with me for a few days. I'll be okay. Thank you" I whispered back, part of me wanting to go stay with him for more than one reason. I would feel a lot safer with Ryder and I won't lie the little crush I have on him, well the part that likes him is screaming for me to say yes but I can't just tell Amanda never mind, not when she offered already and she already plans on coming over.
"Your welcome, I just didn't want you to be alone and scared not when I have plenty of space" He shrugged, making it seem like it wasn't a big deal that he offered but to me it was a big deal.
A huge freaking deal.
He was right, earlier at lunch. He is definitely not such an asshole as everyone thinks he is.
He has a softer side, it just takes some time to actually see it.
"I'll let you know about the locks" I say before taking a step back feeling my legs start to shake, what are we doing? This feels different. He made it seem like what he offered me wasn't a big deal, but it kinda was at least I think it was. He doesn't look like the type that would just open his home up to anyone but I could be reading way more into this than it actually is.
"Yes, let me know. If it's not changed I will have someone go out there tonight to make sure it gets done."
"Thank you. I'll talk to you later then?" I asked, not really sure what to do or say next.
"Yes. Later. Be safe heading home" He says, picking up the phone as it starts to ring.
Does he ever get a break? He probably does but he is starting to look very tired, like something is too heavy on him.
"You too" I say before walking out his door and leaning against the wall next to it so he doesn't see, trying to catch my breath.
What is this man doing to me?
