The Spectacle(cular)

Santram was a young man aged 25 years. He was employed at a Car manufacturing company and was earning well. His family consisted of his parents and a younger sister. His grandmother Durgabai was very fond of Santram and vice-versa. Santram used to spend considerable time with his grandmother and used to report every single thing to her whatever it may be. So we understand the bond the duo shared. Quite nice isn't it? Santram was responsible and performed all his duties well. He was studious and well behaved too. So, he was a good groom that most of the girls would like. This was Durgabai's confident remark about her grandson. She used to reiterate this statement time and again whenever and wherever possible. Santram attended many bride seeing events only to be rejected not because he was a bad suitor, not because of his education nor job but because of his eyesight . Yes you heard it right it was his spectacled eyesight that led to many rejections from would have been brides. Santaram's agony was understood by his grandmother who deeply thought about this weird problem and came out with a practical solution as per her idea. So, the next time he would be on bride seeing visit he would manage seeing the girl without spectacle.

This was a very challenging job. Everything planned and Santaram's family visited jahnavis house. The bride appears well in all aspects and her beauty etc. was given fullmarks by grand mother Durgabai needless to say Santaram was on cloud nine and finally he will be getting married.     The scheduled date was a week away from that meeting and Santaram's happiness knew no bounds. He was on a shopping spree buying new clothe, footware , perfumes and lo behold goggles in place of spectacle. He kept practising to do things without putting on the much needed spectacles and was pleased with his efforts seconded by his loving grandmother . The marriage ceremony was arranged well by the bride's family with everyone happily participating in every event . Santram was too too happy.

With the blessings of both set of parents and all elders Santaram and his new bride drive off to their honeymoon destination with loads of happiness but for one hitch going on at the back of his mind He was constantly thinking about one important point that had to be revealed to the new bride before they start their new life together but how, ??. What if she feels betrayed , cheated etc. How will she receive the reality and so on. But he makes up his mind that he would tell her the truth come what may. Then he was relieved of all stress.

As the night approached and both were in the room together Santaram clears his voice and slowly holds Jahnavi's hand and lovingly Pats her shoulder and says Janu I want to tell you something , I don't know how you will receive this news but I want to start our new life with honesty and not otherwise hope you will understand me and accept me as I am. With bated breath he was about to tell her his spectacle issue and before that he hears her loud laugh and was shocked at her response. Jahnavi says buddhu I know that you are myopic and wear spectacle your grandmother has already told me and my parents had no objection do you know why? Because I am short sighted that is hyperomia so both of us are sailing in the same boat. Relax hubby we are made for each other. All is well that ends well Cheers to the Spectacle (cular) Couple .
