The Solo Journey
The Solo Journey
Amiya walked on the grass, lost in thoughts. She was standing at the crossroads of life without having any idea which way she should choose. She was the only child of her parents. Her parents had spent a lion's share of their income on her education. They wanted her to grow up into a successful and financially independent woman. Amiya was a brilliant student and was a teacher by profession.
Everything went well for Amiya untill she was married into an orthodox family. Her inlaws were of the opinion that the female members of their family should remain confined within the boundaries of their house. They hated the concept of a woman working outside. Moreover, she was condemned by her in-laws for not being able to give a male heir to the family.
Now, Amiya had to choose either to give in to the familial pressure and save her marriage or to walk out and fulfill her dreams. Amiya went to her ancestral house and revisited her childhood. She saw all the medals and trophies she had won during her school and college days. Her dreams and aspirations came alive on seeing them and Amiya took a decision. She was going to leave a life partner who can neither understand her, nor support her. From now onwards, she was going to begin a solo journey to fulfill her dreams.
