The Pet Lovers
The Pet Lovers
Aditi and Raj were back in town after staying away from their homes for nearly half a decade. They were friends from kindergarten. From there they went to school and college together. After getting their jobs in different locations they got separated. Like their other friends were also separated similarly.
One thing common amongst them was that they were both pet lovers. Time to time they kept pet dogs. Maintaining pets demanded lot of time management. They took lot of care of their two pet dogs even that demanded lot of time.
When they had left home for their careers, their families had donated their pets as no one was willing to devote precious time on these animals.
In the evenings Aditi and Raj would meet at the park when they would take their pets for walk.
During one of these evening forays, they discovered many people with varied behaviours. There were senior citizen gentlemen who would discuss about health and fixed deposit interest rates.
There were senior citizen ladies group who would discuss the behaviour of their daughters in law. Then there were young groups who would discuss movies and sports.
Then as night fell there would be people whose behaviour would remain questionable. During one of these outings Raj noticed that a group of shady looking people were eyeing his dog. Raj had recently taken a pup of the husky breed. These huskies belong to the colder climate countries and with light blue eyes which make them pretty attractive. Although it's costly to maintain these creatures as they have to be kept in climate controlled ambience as they belong to cold environs. But they remained attractive commercially and patrons were ready to bear quite a price on them.
Aditi had however a labrador which are also very adorable but are easily available so not that costly. This animal's greatest strength was it's sense of smell. Due to this unique quality they are employed by the Police force to be used to catch criminals and to solve cases.
Raj had observed that a group of people who generally came to the park after sundown were suspiciously eyeing him and his husky. But after initial suspicion he didn't give any second thought.
In a couple of days, Raj found that his beloved husky was missing. Raj was puzzled and temporarily went blank in his head. The husky was his very dear friend his beloved pet. Aditi brought her labrador to try and trace the disappearance of the husky. Raj became quite disillusioned and sad . Within this short period he had become quite attached to his husky
But the labrador kept the hopes alive of finding the husky. A complaint was lodged with the Police.
The police came for interrogation and investigation. Aditi's labrador was employed in the job.
The husky 's trail led the police to the edge of the city. For two days there was no information. On the third day one informer brought the news of sighting of a strange dog that was alien to this area.
No mystery can remain unravelled to the police. On the fourth day the telecom department had eaves dropped on a suspect telephonic conversation. A big price was being asked for a husky with blue eyes.
Police was then led to the source of the telephone conversation. Raj was asked to join the investigation along with Aditi and her labrador.
The Police then raided an abandoned godown. Aditi's labrador was hot on a scent trail and led the police to a corner place that lay under years of abandoned debris. There under a heap of building material rubbish lay the husky chained but safe. It was panting like mad because they are creatures of cold climes and are supposed to be kept in climate controlled environs in hot country like ours. It had not been fed for quite few days it seemed.
Even on a weak body, the husky jumped up in joy on seeing Raj. He leaped up high over Raj with adulation and grounded him. Then it was all over him licking his face and body. Raj was also beyond himself with intense happiness and joy. Because these few days and nights he had forgotten what sleep was.
Two men who were lurking behind tried to runaway were overpowered by the labrador of Aditi. They were quickly apprehended and taken into custody.

Lab returned home triumphant. From the accused apprehension it was revealed that a big six figure was looming ahead as prize money for luring away the husky. This was the single motivation for the disappearance.
