The Oldman's Goat

Once an old man got a goat as a gift. As he was walking down the road, carrying the goat on his shoulders, three thieves saw him. They thought the goat would make a good dinner and so they made a plan and walked past the old man through the bushes, making sure he didn't see them.

After some time, one of the thieves approached the old man and said, "excuse me sir but can you tell me, why a gentleman like you, is carrying a dog on his shoulders. It's not a class act, I guess?"

"Can't you see? I'm caring for a goat! Isn't it obvious?" the old man replied.

"I'm sorry sir but I only said what I saw and nothing more. Clearly being educated isn't everything." the first thief muttered before leaving, making sure the old man heard him.

After a few hundred meters, the old man was approached by the second thief.

"Respected sir but can you please tell me why are you carrying a dead calf on your shoulders? Isn't it demeaning for someone as educated as you?" he asked.

"What is wrong with everyone? Or are you bling just like the fool I met some time ago? Isn't it clear that it's a goat that I'm carrying." the old man replied.

"I beg your pardon, sir. I let wanted to ask you what I saw. It doesn't bother me if you carry a dead calf or a living goat." the second thief and left.

After some time, the third thief approached the old man, as planned, and said, "Pardon me sir but ain't you from a well-off house?"

"What kind of question is that? Yes of course I am." the old man said.

"Then, may I ask you how an educated man as yourself, dares to carry a pig on his shoulder? Such a dirty animal shouldn't even touch you."

The old man became anxious. He thought what he was indeed not carrying a goat but a shape-shifting monster or a goblin. Scared for his life, he immediately left the goat and ran to his house as fast as he could. The thieves then picked the goat.
