THE LAST TRIP

Leena, a teen in her mid 20's, Leen, short hair, brown eyes, formal looking, who is working as a nurse in private old age home "the season of life".

There are around 20 old people in the home both men and women, and 4 staffs Leena, Kamali, Malar and Zaara.

Leena and Kamali works day shift, Malar and zaara, night.

Families of old people, non-profitable organisations, students, visit the home at special occasions for their own self.

After these small occasions most of the time, these old people used to stay alone waiting again for the visit to see new faces.but everyone were happy in here in their own ways.

At least some of them had someone to see during these occasions.

But Kasthuri had none. She was 80 years old and came in just a week before, doesn't speak with anyone, stays in her own space, alone while working and eating.

When others tries to connect with her, she avoids them.

When Leena tries talking with her, Kasthuri remains silent.

Leena walks into the archive room and takes out Kasthuri's files and wants to see for herself why she is the way she is.

Leena reads her file and connects with a friend of Kasthuri getting her number from his son telling him its part of her treatment.

Kasthuri's friends Roja who was her only best friend from childhood starts to tell what she know from the letters and calls from Kasthuri to her.

Kasthuri's parents died in a car crash when she was 15 years old. Her brother died at the army at Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.at her uncle's house in Salem she was abused and was sent to hostel later.

Her lover left her once she got pregnant. She got aborted. Was later she was married to an old man. He loved her a lot.

He would take her to eat ice cream at nights, travel long distance in bike, the morning beach, food that he made her, she was never been that happy in her life, with two children born later.

Even as a family they would go and eat ice creams at night, have parties together, dance, eat, trek.

Her husband's sudden death at an accident shook her. She was drowning in finance. She worked had like never before for her children's food, health and studies.

She never takes cares for her needs. All she cares is her children.

When her children grew up and married, they grew on their own, being manipulated by others and sent her here.

Now she is broken into pieces. Also she has cancer. She is counting her days.

Leena wants to piece those broken pieces together.

First thing Leena did is bringing her only friend Roja to meet Kasthuri.on the meet, Kasthuri felt emotional and cries hugging Roja.

Kasthuri is looking through the window seeing Roja leaving in car. Leena walks in sits near her in bed looking through the window.

Leena says, Kasthuri reminds of her mom whom she lost years back in cancer. She was not there with her mom when she needed most. She realised it when it was too late. The guilt of not taking care of her mother bought Leena here to work and take care of these old people.

Leena's tears flows through her face to her hands, where another hand was top of hers.

Kasthuri tells her, she feels like eating icecream.

Leena laughs wiping her tears.

At night without anyone noticing, Leena takes Kasthuri on a ride in her bike.at the ride Kasthuri would spread her hands and feels the wind taking her back to her memories with her husband.

They stops at an ice cream shop, when Kasthuri has the icecream of chocolate flavour which she used to have with her husband.

While tasting it, she could taste the lips and kiss of her husband.

To her surprise, Leena takes Kasthuri to the beach to see the morning sunrise.the first rays falling on her feels like her husband holding her. She enjoyed this with tears.

On their return back home without anyone noticing, Kasthuri walks to her room.she stops at walks back towards Leena gives her a kiss on her forehead and says, "your mother will be proud of you".

Leena wipes her tears and walks away with a goodbye.

By morning Leena gets a call from the home telling Kasthuri passed away this morning.
