The lady of the house

Being the woman of the house is difficult. The only person held accountable when something goes wrong is the lady of the house. On this, every other woman would agree with me.

I'm going to tell you a story about Sunaina, a woman I met in Mumbai while riding a local train back home. Her story was not only heart wrenching, but it also gave me chills. It makes me wonder how she managed to survive and how someone like her is still alive.

Sunaina was a lovely woman with a lovely heart, just like her name suggested. The woman came along as I was returning home and wasn't in a good mood. I couldn't help but ask, "Is she doing okay?" Yes, she replied. I remained silent for a while after that. I turned on the music again and started to look out the window while lowering the volume. She began murmuring all of a sudden. I was wondering whether you were speaking to me. She replied, "Yes." I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I genuinely don't feel good. I'm not sure where I'm going because I felt today like the family member who was the least wanted. I travelled by train. I left my family members' homes and my children there. I thought that was quite shocking. I'd say I simply went speechless.

I asked her what prompted her to think that way and take such a bold move after gathering myself. What about the children? She answered. Nobody requires me. Without me, they would do better. Once more, I was speechless. Thinking, God, kindly assist this woman. We both remained silent the entire time. No words were spoken by anyone. She abruptly came to a stop and, without speaking to me, sat down. I even got off at the same stop out of worry. I made sure she didn't know about the same thing. She went on moving. She felt this desire to kill herself. She made numerous attempts at suicide. It was heavily raining. Not a single truck, bus, or vehicle smack her.

She tried. Near the river, she came to a stop. I believed she intended to jump. Who knows what made her change her mind? I continued to pursue her. Police managed to hold her and question her. She had trembles. She had swollen legs. Toes had been cut. She wasn't even wearing sandals, which amused me. Before, I had not noticed that. Police continued to inquire. She said nothing. I didn't know where I was going, and the kids were with the family. It was all she said. superior than them. The police treated her well. She was given water, prasad, and tea, among other things. No, when the police asked for her husband. She dialled his number right away. Her husband arrived. Is she a psycho? the police asked him. Her husband became joyful. What do I need to say to you, sir? The police answered. She doesn't appear to be a lunatic and you didn't submit a FIR. Bring her along. Along with her husband, she left. The police took notes and had her spouse sign them.

I even went back home after thinking, "Thank God," after seeing all that.
