The gift of forgiveness

The gift of forgiveness

So if you follow me, you know I am a big softie, especially during the holidays. You will catch me watching sappy Christmas movies all month long. I even wrote about that yesterday. But in watching them, many of them have a theme; it's forgiveness. Especially during the holidays, when we should be with our families and friends and we should forgive.

So many people get so bent out of shape because of something someone says or because they don't do what you think they should do. Okay, I raised my hand for this one. Yes, I think that everyone should have my heart and people just don't.

I need to get over feeling hurt because of it, and I'm working on it. But if that person comes and asks for forgiveness, I will absolutely accept their apology.

Some people hold grudges for years for stupid shit. Some people allow their anger to eat them up while the other person is going along with their lives, not even thinking about you. It's like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies. How stupid is that? But so many people are so bitter and angry, filled with hatred for what another person did to them or said to them.

I can't live like that. I am first to apologize if I screw up because hello! We are all human like I write about all the time, and yes, we all screw up. I will try to make my mistake right, but if you won't accept my apology, I'm moving on. I won't hate you; I won't be mad at you. I will just keep going and let you sit alone with your anger and hatred because it's obvious that nothing I say will change your mind.

Some people aren't looking for an apology; they are looking for blood, and I am not willing to give that, and neither should you.

My favorite bible verse is "He who has no sin, cast the first stone." None of us can do that; we have all said something to hurt someone else. We have all done shitty things, whether we meant them or not. We are all human, and we all make mistakes, and if you think you're not included in this, then you're delusional.

So today, my friends, remember this holiday season, that forgiveness is the best gift we can give to others and the best gift we can give to ourselves. Let go of the anger, the hurt, the bitterness, the hatred, and free yourself today with forgiveness.

"Be the change you want to see."
