The Betrayed Children
The Betrayed Children
There was an orphanage where many homeless children lived. How unfortunate? It was not the case that due to some tragedy they all lost their parents and were living over there out of compulsion. Some of them were so unlucky, that their parents themselves left them in that orphanage just because they were girls. We call ourselves as technically advanced modern Indians but our thinking is still pathetic in reference to equality between men and woman. Large number of orphans lived in that orphanage.
But it was a great place, all because of Ram Narayan, the owner and caretaker of the orphanage. He loved and cared for all the children over there, spend his entire time with them, played with them and majorly he nurtured individual qualities of each one of them. He believed that since they have no parents, they should not get deprived of any facility in that orphanage. Ram Narayan was a retired government officer. His pension was more than enough to take care of the orphanage and fulfil the individual needs of every single person of that orphanage. That's why Ram Narayan was a relaxed person.
He used to take all the orphans to picknic every Sunday. There was a big beautiful hall in that orphanage. Before going to bed, everyone used to gather over there and Ram Narayan used to tell them sweet moral stories before they go to bed. Actually that orphanage was like sweet home for all the children over there. Sometimes Ram Narayan used to cry thinking that how could parents of such sweet children leave them in orphanage. It was so painful for Ram Narayan.
One day few people came to Ram Narayan and said they don't have children so they want to adopt the children of the orphanage. Ram Narayan was happy to hear that. He thought that now the unfortunate children will have a home and parents too. This news reached the children. They were very sad to hear that. Whole night the children did not sleep. One of them named Rohit said to another boy Raj, "Hey Raj! So you will be leaving this place next morning. Your new parents are coming." Raj said, "No Rohit, I will not go anywhere. I will not leave Ram Narayan ji. He is just like a father. I can't live without him."
Next day Raj's new parents arrived to take him. Very happily they were doing document formalities. Everyone was silent with tears in their eyes. Their sweet friend Raj was about to leave them. Looking at them Raj remembered good old days when they played together, discussed personal problems with each other, helped each other in studies, enjoyed picnic together, solved problems of thier lives together. All the children were crying to see Raj go with his new parents. One of the child said, "Go Raj go. A beautiful and systematic life awaits you. Now you will have parents. But please don't forget us reaching there. God knows, when we will be able to see you again. But don't worry, we are in same city." That child was talking and crying non stop. Looking at him everyone's eyes were full of tears.
As Raj reached the car of his new parents at the gate of orphanage, he just rushed towards Ram Narayan and hugged him. He said, "I will not go anywhere. I don't need parents. I need you. Please tell them to leave. I will not leave you, I will not leave you." Seeing him cry Ram Narayan went emotional and with folded hands, requested the new parents to leave. They understood the feeling of the children and left happily.
It was getting dark and Ram Narayan had dinner with all the children of the orphanage. He was satisfied to realise that all were very happy as Raj did not leave them. After that all of them went to sleep.
As all of them woke up in the morning, they saw Ram Narayan doing some work at the entrance gate of the orphanage. They all reached over there. Reaching there they saw a new banner of the orphanage. From "Ram Narayan Orphanage" it got changed into, "Ram Narayan and family." Tears rolled down the eyes of all the children. All of them came together and hugged Ram Narayan. Ram Narayan said, "Don't worry children. This is not an orphanage. This is our home and we will always be together"
All of them were very happy. Children only need love. They are so innocent that they do not understand harsh reasons of life behind seperation, being away from loved ones and leaving someone. Children are people with pure heart.
