There is not an iota of doubt that you need somebody of high wisdom & learning, somebody in exalted position by character & virtues, and somebody of fame & eminence who can shape your career and guide your destiny.

In other words you need somebody to monitor and mentor your career & professional life, which will go a long way in deciding the quality of your life. Looking back one must feel "I have had a productive & fulfilling life thanks to my mentors"

I have been very fortunate in this regard and I feel blessed today for having been mentored by several important persons during the growth of my professional career.

I would like to remember and salute the following persons (all eminent personalities) who were responsible for mentoring and shaping me at different stages of my formative and productive years :

● Dr A.V.Rao : My first & foremost mentor happens to be my dad who, apart from teaching me many things of practical importance and wisdom, also taught me the principles of Chemical Engineering and principles of Reverse Osmosis separation technology

● Professor L.D.Dave : My college mentor who taught me group theory, periodic table of elements, wave mechanics and quantum chemistry ; he was the one who taught me how to understand & interpret the periodic table of elements

● Professor M.M.Taqui Khan : My Ph.D guide who taught me chemical kinetics, chemical thermodynamics, electrochemistry and homogeneous catalysis ; he was the one who inspired me to visit the library following which I understood from him how to do or how to go through bibliography of the selected research topic or research problem

● Dr R. Rangarajan : My post-doctoral guru who taught me the principles of membrane science, principles of separation technology and development of thin film composite membranes from polymers which can be used or employed for water purification, water disinfection and water desalination

● Dr Pushpito Kumar Ghosh : My professional & scientific mentor who encouraged me to design and establish Reverse Osmosis desalination units, defluoridation units, and water recycling/purification plants in various rural areas of the country where there was a demand for good quality drinking water

It was indeed a wonderful experience and a great learning curve for me while associating with my mentors and gurus at repeated and successive stages of my professional/advanced career.

They were not only my mentors but also my "destiny makers" in the long and continuous journey of my professional life.

When you have such mentors as above, there is no space or rather no absolute scope for tormentors !
