Ramu lived in a village with his wife. Once she asked him to get firewood but while collecting woods, he broke an earthen lamp and demon came out from it. He wanted to eat Ramu but he requested to at least let him bid adieu to his wife. Demon agreed.

"Did you get firewood?" she asked.

"No. I've got a demon who wants to eat me.....I requested you to let me meet you to explain it to you," he explained.

"Oh just that?!" she replied. Ramu looked amused. "Don't worry...I know magic to trap demon's soul," she added and want to the storeroom. Demon was listening to their talk standing outside by the window. She came with something covered with cloth. "So let the demon look into and its soul will get trapped," she explained and sensed the demon by the window, so she went out and removed the cloth and showed demon its own reflection.

"Please release my soul ma'am! I'll leave your husband and shall never return back." demon requested.

"Okay but first you get firewood and restore our house." she commanded and after demon finished its chores, she confirmed it that she had released the soul and hence the demon left.

"Where did you learn to trap souls?" Ramu asked.

"I didn't. I showed it its own reflection in the mirror to make him believe that i had trapped its soul and then tilted the mirror to not reflect its image to show that I had released his soul." she explained.
