It was a sunny day in class 3 F.

Sarah Dolle entered the class in deep thought. She was thinking about a little puppy she had passed by when she was coming to school. It was small and cute with clean trimmed white fur and drooped ears. It looked so sad and lost on the sidewalk, she wanted to pick it up and take it with her to class. But then she remembered she couldn't.

The school did not allow pets.

When her classmates saw her being so absent minded, they asked her what was on her mind. Sarah tried to brush it off. "But you've had that frowny look on your face for half the day now! It's getting everyone distracted," blurted out Blue Belle. She was a short girl with beautiful black hair.

Giving up, Sarah told them about the dog.

"Maybe it's someone's pet?" Hugo Vires asked.

"No," Sarah told him. "There was no collar around the poor thing. Or a leash."

"Maybe we can bring it to school!" Zoe Clark exclaimed.

"I thought so too," Sarah said, "but we can't bring pets to school. The teacher told us not to, remember?"

The class fell into a contemplative silence.

"I've heard that adults can change their mind if we give them money.." Hugo said.

The class turned to him in disbelief. Hugo stumbled to explain himself.

"It's like they sell their idea of not bringing animals to school to us. And if we buy it...."

"Then the only idea that will remain is bringing animals to school! "Rick Fallow finished. "Hugo, you're a genius."

"But where do we get the money from?" Sarah asked.

"I have a few pennies" Zoe pitched in.

"Me too" said Blue Bell.

They put together their coins but it was just a handful.

"I don't think we can buy any ideas from this."

Anna Foss broke up the little pennies into imaginary smaller pieces. "if we do this, maybe we could get enough money."

Everyone hummed in agreement.

When everyone was satisfied, they matched to the principal's office, passing by an english teacher's stunned face.

The principal seemed surprised to see them, but she clollected herself and smiled at them warmly.

"What can I do for you lot?"

Anna Foss kept the money on the table.

"We would like to buy your animal idea madam."

The principal was confused.

They told her the entire story from the beginning. The principal was dumbfounded.

"I'm afraid there's not enough money for it," she said when they were done.

The kids bowed their heads in disappointment.

The principal felt touched by the innocence of the children. She thought for a moment, and then said, "But there is enough money to keep the dog for today."

The class rejoiced, Zoe hugged Blue and Hugo while Sarah cried in delight.

Sarah Dolle was not absent minded in class thereafter.
