My New Beginning

I was enjoying my new job. Working and earning my own hard money was so satisfying. Like having made my own cake and then eating it too. My core area of work was coding. A new fashionable term these days that could be bragged about, when asked, what I was doing. So as it was a demanding type, the salary was also premium. The happy life continued for more than a couple of years when doomsday struck. There was a sudden change in the market scenario and a series of ugly lay offs started in the information technology sector. One fine day, I was shown the door. It all depended how your boss was and the type of working relationship which you had with the boss. My boss, a very demanding lady was never ever happy with me. I felt it was purely due to jealousy. But I never imagined that one day it would be the reason for the loss of my loving job. I was deeply enraged. Revenge was all over my body and soul. I would see her eye to eye one day, I swored. But, as I had a good and benign upbringing with a forgiving and charitable mindset, I soon forgave my ex boss. But I didn't forget the event because it became the catalyst for my new beginning. 

I had an inquisitive mind always and ever since childhood, I was experimenting with new things and ideas. My lay off became the reason for my new work life. I refused to be employed by someone else and promised to be my own employer and also an employer to many more deserving youth. 

In my engineering course I had dabbled with drones in the aeronautical stream. My proto type was getting good reviews in the market and Enterprises were chasing me to start building these proto types into marketable drones. I needed seed money and, luckily, the current Eco system set up by the government helped entrepreneurs like me, to get easy seed capital at easy interest rates. So I took the deep plunge. My parents also supported me with some capital but were a bit apprehensive about my success and doubtful about the repayment of their money. But being parents, natural love for me overtook the risk of parting with their attachments. 

I got a bright and smart team with me, all of them being laid off employees. They all joined forces with me when I gave them my idea about the product and it's prospects in the market. So I rewarded them with good salary and perquisites even when we were not earning real cash. They were a very grateful lot because they never thought in the first place that they would earn more than earlier. Also they were relieved with the relaxed working style of our new enterprise. So I could get their full dedication and devotion. I silently ensured that they would not have to look elsewhere. I gave my team full freedom at work. Because this dole out from me earned a deep commitment from my team who were ready to go to any extent for my success. 

My first set of drones were soon ready available in the market. And by the grace of God, those drones were commanding a huge demand for more. As our production set up couldn't manage the huge demand, I set up franchisees with a high level of royalty for our know how. Very soon our coffers were overflowing and I repaid all my debtors. But some debtors being very impressed with my performance and seeing huge potential in my ability requested to convert the debt to equity as they wanted to be a part of the growth of my company. 

In the meanwhile, my ex boss, came calling on me one day. She was flabbergasted seeing me super busy and watching the stellar performance of our company. She had come after reading lovely reviews in the press. Being herself now laid off ignominously, and burning with self pride and insult, she now had buried her past jealousy over me. She also candidly admitted that she had been jealous due to my cool confidence and quiet authority. But her ego had overpowered her to cause harm to me. She now repented badly and was very profuse in her apologies that I had to supercede and quiet her down. As she also wanted to be a part of our team and willing to work under my leadership without any conditions, I had to take her in. I found my team supporting her inclusion but insisted her inclusion as a junior to me. Because somehow they had become aware of her indifferent treatment to me earlier. Also, I found that past incidents had quieted down her ego to a huge extant. But being herself having good leadership qualities, I, knew, she would be a valuable addition. Surprisingly, she became my secret admirer, henceforth, as slowly I observed. 

My successful journey now has become our team's successful journey. Because, I have given a stake in the company to all the employees who now also are owners of the company due to their ESOPS, in the form of equity. My ex boss is now my wife. I surrendered to her authority when she volunteered to take over the household and our parents were happy when my ex boss decided to be my wife. Sometimes, ego can bring in lot of positive results, if handled judiciously(sic). 

My new beginning has started on a positive note and I hope to continue it with your blessings.
