Mother's Day
Mother's Day
Maa visited Pune. She was in her late 80's. It was a hot May evening and Maa and I used to go for walks.
On one such evening after I had picked up a few vegetables of Maa's liking we were strolling on the road adjacent to our society. We were busy discussing the golden days that was left behind when things were hard but so nice and sweet.
No one had much money but the happiness that was around cannot be compared with today's life. Now there are big cars and all-around competition who has more and more. Our days were much simpler and less competitive.
Today life has become fake, and everyone has false pride. When suddenly I noticed a fe
w men standing in a corner, I could make out they were up to some wrongdoings. One had an eye on my mobile and the other my handbag. Maa quickly changed sides and we started walking a bit fast.
Maa took my hand in hers and said I am with you, nothing will happen. She was right; I still don't know why those men took their cycles and went off.
God has given powers to mothers. They have always protected their children
Slowly the days went by, and Maa took leave to go back to Mumbai. Before leaving she told me, 'Never Walk alone on this road in the evening'. I never did.
A mother has power. She has intuition. She knows what is right.
