Momentum of Love
Momentum of Love
Cubbon Park
On a pleasant Sunday morning with a mellowed Sun’s rays penetrating the branches of a large tree canopy some budding and mature poets and poetess had assembled for a reading of some poetry. The poetry reading session went on for some two hours. By the end of it a particular poet and a poetess were smitten by their respective words. They exchanged their phone numbers and promised to keep in touch with other. Let us call them for sake of anonymity Anarkali and Majnu or if you prefer a Western touch Romeo and Juliet. Neither religion or region mattered to them, nor the age or colour of the skin. Their words touched each other and together formed verses. That is all mattered.
It was the poetess who played the first move as if she was playing chess. She put up the following verses in WhatsApp:
Your words did form many a wonderful verse
In my heart created an impact adverse
Now day and night, you, I only think
Who will rescue from my madness, I am in the brink.
He was surely touched and felt a resonance upon reading the verse. He responded
Your impact upon me no less
I put up a show of normalcy nevertheless
When I look up to the clouds, I see the shape of you
Everything about the world and life feels anew.
She wrote in her response:
Sleep and hunger do elude me
Time stands still, I feel an inner glee.
Together with you I want to flee
My thoughts and words are in a like flood like spree.
In a moment of madness Majnu or Romeo shared their conversation in the whatsapp group. Their conversation became an instant hit.
Some in the group cheered.
While some in the group jeered.
While some others in eagerness wanting more geared
Themselves, they shared even more, so their voices could he heard.
When the poetry turned a touch erotic
In the desert of life, I drink your love from an oasis.
I love the taste of your black forest on a regular basis.
World without love is one of crisis
Let the world of flowers blossom with love as is.
The Ministry of Culture Vulture turned red faced and decided to ban the WhatApp postings.
Moralistic issues got raised, all hell broke loose
The Centre wanted to cook the goose
It ordered a ban, but it was already like worms in an open can.
Viral spread to FB and Twitter for people were not quitters.
Movement of love crossed the border
In the world it spread disorder
Of a different kind when love reigned on the realm
Commoners and elites did feel overwhelmed.
Hatred beat a retreat, for the humans a certain treat
People each other they did greet
In cafes and bistros they did meet
And in million numbers they did tweet.
Majority lost interest in war, peace alone they wanted
Military establishment did feel haunted.
Minus the hatred the right wingers lost traction
Their support base dwindled to a fraction.
Sworn enemies declared truce
For hatred to remain thereafter no excuse.
Nobel peace committee declared the award
To the Movement of Love, they looked forward.
Hordes of tourist descended upon the Cubbon Park and the park reverberated with rhymes of poetry. The momentum of love has arrived finally.
