For me, positive thinking is akin to promoting goodness all around, amidst badness, with emphasis on "feel good" and "feel important" factors. It is like not calling a beggar a beggar but rather calling him a "seeker of alms" in which case there are no beggars in India because they are not begging for food but seeking for food (alms) as per positive thinking. So in a way, we can safely & positively say that India is a land of seekers, where everything is sought politely and accepted humbly. There can be no rosy picture than this. Come to think of it, a seeker of alms is more highly rated & regarded than a beggar.

Positive thinking is a diplomatic version of wishful thinking. If wishes were horses, beggars would ride. But then you don't need to wish for a horse because you are not a beggar now but rather a seeker in the world of diplomacy.

However, ground realities do not change whether you think positively or negatively. The fact remains that beggars will continue to remain beggars so what if they are not "begging" to be fed but requesting or seeking to be fed?

The only alternative approach is to think aggressively and practically. Imagine a situation wherein beggars are "demanding" or forced to be fed, say at gunpoint. If this is the scenario prevailing wherein beggars are using force and demanding food at gunpoint, it can safely be interpreted that there are more criminals on the road than beggars - in which case we can practically say that India is a land of criminals and not beggars!

Logical conclusion: The poverty rate is coming down drastically while the crime rate is going up alarmingly. Everything is based on the cause & effect principle. It is time to think and act practically.
