As the time is 08:45 AM, Tharun Mohan rushed to his college. Since, it's his convocation day. He is going to get his UG degree on this day. His friends have not yet come to the college. Ensuring that by going to his department of B. Com(Accounting and Finance), Tharun searched for them all over the campus.

While searching for them, he came across his friends Pavish and Afsajith. After talking with them, they have a coffee.

At that time, Balasurya asked Tharun: "Hey Tharun. I heard you are asking about someone of our class through phone call? Is that true?"

Tharun doesn't give any reply to his questions. After meeting everyone, he went to the class, where he sees his close friend Sanjay V.V.

"How are you da Tharun?" asked Sanjay

"I am good da. How are you? How's your work going?" "Going good da" said Sanjay.

 

After a moments of silence, Tharun asked him: "I contacted you yesterday. I came to Kannampalayam, da. But, you didn't attend the call."

"I slept da." After some hesitations and reluctance, Tharun asked Sachin to give his phone. From his phone, Tharun open the Instagram account.

"Why da? Want to see your lover ah?"

"Yes" said Tharun. With reluctance, Sachin gave his mobile phone.

"Don't go inside the class da. See her photos here itself." "I will take care da." Tharun said. Going inside the

Instagram, Tharun typed Sathya. Upon seeing her face and

post, he was extremely happier and glad. While seeing a post, he turned to Sanjay and asked: "How's Anuvishnu da? Will he come today?"

"No da. Yesterday, he called me and said he has an important meeting in company. No chance for him to come today." One hour later, after everyone came, convocation finished around 10:30 AM.

Sathya has also came for the convocation along with her close friend Reshika. While, she spoke to everyone in the class, she remains unbothered about Tharun. However, he ensured that she's happier with Reshika.

 

Until her arrival, Tharun was happily talking with everyone. But, after she came, he almost felt like crying. Tears filled his eyes as he was feeling guilty and remorseful. Without spending time with his friends, he roamed around the place, where Sathya went. After that, around 01:30 PM, he goes back to his home.

Laying in the bed, Tharun recalled his college days.

"True love is free from expectation, anger, and any other emotion. It involves an only act of giving, void of any expectation or null feeling. Krishna taught us the same in Mahabharata; he quoted, "He who has no attachments can really love others, for his love is pure and divine. My love story is very different."

FOUR YEARS BACK SEPTEMBER 2020 SITRA, COIMBATORE

Due to Covid-19 pandemic all over the world, lockdown was passed all over India, due to which schools and colleges were closed. Not only schools and colleges, even business Industries faced severe loss. After six months of lockdown, it was relieved from September. But to ensure that Corona doesn't spread viral, college classes were conducted through online mode. The first two semesters of his college days went through online for Tharun.

 

He and his friends attended classes through Google meet. After finishing the classes, they used to talk in the one hour lunch break. Only through Whatsapp and Instagram, Tharun spoke to his friends. At this point of time, he met Sathya in Whatsapp chat.

Within few days of chatting with her, Tharun became close with her. Sooner, he got to know that Sathya's mother died when she was in 8th grade because of heart attack. After getting to know about each of their characters, Tharun decides to remain patient and make her fall in love with him. Since, she's sensitive and emotional character.

Through Google meet, Zoom calls, Whatsapp video call and Phone calls, Tharun and Sathya were making their relationship stronger. Around January, Tharun reveals his love for her. She asked him to give time for 2 months. Until that, she asked him not to send any "I love you" messages. Since, her sister may catch her red handed.

However, situation went out of control when Tharun went for C3R surgery in his eyes around April and May. At that time, Sathya was caught red handed through her sister.

Only at that time, Tharun realized that one of his message had accidentally reached her. Before Tharun was caught, Tharun's mother also found his love with her. This lead to a huge quarrel between him and his mother. He disrespected her by calling her, "Di" and also used filthy languages.

 

Heartbroken and angry, Tharun's mother went out from the house and lived in Pollachi for the next six months.

Meanwhile, Sathya's sister Sivasri Suryanarayanan came into contact with Tharun through Whatsapp. She said: "You should never ever meet her at any time in your life. If ever, I will hand over you to the police. And one more thing. Never ever use her name in your stories. I hope you understand."

Although heartbroken and sad, Tharun controlled his tears and said: "Sister. The mistake is with me. Harm me if you are angry. Don't ever harm Sathya. I will never ever talk with her. Promise on Bhagavad Gita."

"I should never ever see any messages again."

Tharun hides this entire incident from his father. As he promised to Sathya, he starts caring for his father. Further, he ensures that they both are united. As requested by Tharun's father, he goes to Pollachi and meets his grandmother. At that time, by making dramas, Tharun's mother comes back to SITRA once again.

She starts torturing Tharun and his father. Her negative vibrations further damaged Tharun's mental health. He starts beating her, strangling her neck. Tharun even went to the extent of pushing his mother in anger for giving advices during a shout by his father. Angered, Tharun's father severely beats him up. But, being stronger mentally, Tharun remains patient.

 

He recalled Sathya's words: "Tharun. Promise me. You

should never ever hurt your father." Tharun started to take care of his father. He gets a second-hand scooter from his father. Unable to forget Sathya, he started searching for her in the class. Ensuring that she's happier with her newfound friends, he roamed around Coimbatore to forget her.

Tharun started to search for other girls through Instagram and tried to forget Sathya. But, the accounts were fake and he started getting into trouble. His attempts to forget Sathya by meeting newfound friends in all departments of Commerce is also unsuccessful. Eventually, he plans to go for a long trip in his scooter by lying to his father in August 2022.

Tharun was extremely happier to see the flooded Bhavani and Cauvery rivers. However, his father takes back the money and scooter by beating him up severely. His anger and fight increased with his mother. After this incident, Tharun attended Campus Placement training sessions and classes.

However, due to the lack of attendance, his profile gets delisted from Campus placements. After going up and down for more than 3 months, Tharun managed to get relisted.

But, the negative vibrations from his mother still haunts him. He is unable to focus on his campus placements. At the same time, his Pollachi school friends conducted reunion party in Sakthi River Resorts.

 

After meeting his best friend Dhaswin in Gopalapuram, he goes along with him to Sakthi River resorts. Without his knowledge, Tharun bought a cigarette in his pocket. Sitting at a chair by looking at the Azhiyar river, Tharun started smoking a cigar.

When Tharun was smoking, someone from his back called

him and said: "Why Tharun? Will you not talk with us?"

When he turned back, it was his school friends Janani, Vaishnavi, Varshini and Jaishree. After seeing a cigarette in his hands, Janani gets angry and asked him: "Krishna.

When did you develop this habit of smoking?"

"Do you smoke? You talked against Drugs and Alcohol drinking? How did you smoke?" But when Vaishnavi and Janani were speaking, Tharun developed a severe headache.

"Please wait a minute. I will go and wash my face." Tharun went for a face wash by keeping his hands on the forehead. After fifteen minutes of refreshing, he comes back to normal and talks with his friends. Dhaswin slaps him for smoking and said: "How many times I have said to you da! You should never go for these bad habits. Tell us. Why did you do like this?"

is breakup with Sathya to them. Upon knowing this, his friends realized why Tharun relapsed to smoking.

"If everyone starts smoking for a breakup, this world will never exist Tharun" said Vaishnavi. Tharun promised them that he will stop smoking. After meeting all of his friends, one of their friend, Mayurikaa asked: "Guys. Shall we go for a smoke?"

"Ok pa" said Tharun and few of his friends. Dhaswin and Vaishnavi stared at Tharun for this. However, with a pleasing face, Tharun asked them: "One last time da. I will never smoke again after this."

The friends reluctantly agreed to his request. Tharun went with Mayurikaa. Taking a cigarette from his pocket, he lighted the cigar and started smoking it. For more than six times, he smoked the cigar. Looking at one of his friend, he said: "Sridhar. Give that da."

Through his nose and mouth, he left the cigar smoke. At that time, one of his friend said: "Leave the smoke through mouth da."

"Whatever I tried, I am unable to do so da" said Tharun. Seeing this, Dhaswin takes him from the place and said: "Enough Tharun. This should be your last smoking day."

Tharun burns the cigarette pocket. After going to their ancestor temple for Amavasai with Tharun's father, he goes to the college, the next day. On that day in the evening Tharun's friend Dinesh sends a message in Reunion group by saying: "Guys. Kindly attend the mourning function in Dargah of Chinnampalayam. As our Aariyaan is no more."

Shocked, Tharun called Dinesh and asked: "Dude. Is that real?"

"Yes da Tharun. He died in a road accident at Kumar Nagar." Shocked, the very next day, he rushed to Pollachi in his scooter with the permission of Tharun's mother, who too was shocked. For the first time, she allowed her son like this. But, his father doesn't know anything about this.

Seeing Aariyaan's mother and father, Tharun was silent. A little drop of tears came from his eyes. In the dargah, people were unable to control Aariyaan's father. He cried extremely when he was cremating his son. After coming back to the home, Aariyaan's mother asked to Tharun: "How did you know Aariyaan pa?"

"I and Aari were schoolmates for three years Aunty. When I had no contact with my friends, he got me their contact. Only because of him, I got back my school friends. Else, it's impossible. I can't even believe that he died. I had a desire to meet him at least once. But I will never see him again in my life. Because he left us to live in the heaven."

Holding Tharun's hands, Aariyaan's mother said: "Help all poor people pa. He loves to do that." She cried aloud. This emotionally damaged Tharun. After informing his friends there, he starts going back to Coimbatore.

"I lost everything that I loved. Why should I live? Better I'll also die today." Tharun told himself in the mind and starts riding his scooter. At that time, in Kadri Mills gate, he meets with an accident. To his luck, only his teeth gets damaged. As Tharun was wearing helmet.

"If I have not been blocked by that stone, I too would have met the similar fate of Aariyaan's that day. I should thank that stone for saving me." Tharun recalled that accident moment by bringing the reflection of the bus. The bus was parallel to the road, where he was driving his scooter.

Aariyaan's death made Tharun more responsible. He starts to take care of his father. Since, his anger for his mother has not toned down yet. Sooner, he started to get three job offers through Campus Placement. As he had manipulated his father's mind.

In between, Tharun successfully managed to chase out his mother through his villainous and criminal ideas. The first one he rejected. While, the other two didn't come. Only on June, he got a job offer from TCS BPO. But, Tharun rejected it. Since, he registered for his PG Course in the same college already. At the same time, Tharun heard about the demise of his grandmother. Since, he was writing his last semester exams, he was unable to attend her funeral.

At the same time, in between the reopening of his college, Tharun took training for filing tax returns and Tally through Auditor office. After that, he started his PG classes from August 2023 with his newfound friends. Around January 2024, Tharun eventually changes his mind and forgives his mother for the sake of his father's well-being.

Remembering the promise he gave to Sathya, Tharun tried to bring back his mother as requested by his father. But, this time the attempts to bring her back was unsuccessful.

Since, Tharun's mother is in extreme anger for not attending the funeral of Tharun's grandmother.

As the two attempts were unsuccessful, Tharun starts meditating. Through spirituality, he controls his anger and depression.

Looking at Sathya's photo and blocked whatsapp page, he recalled the words of his best friend Raghu when Tharun was in a four days trip at Chikmagalur, Coorg and Mysore.

"She'll never ever remember you during convocation. Still you saved her as Sathya." At present, Tharun said to her photo: "I thought you would forget me Sathya. But, when I sent you birthday message on November 12, 2023, you replied with a feel-good emoji by saying Thank you. I was extremely happier to receive that message through my mother's phone. You know? Her phone is still with me."

Now, Tharun have undergone a new transformation in his life. He is independent, having his own notebook, pen, pencil and ID card. There's no necessity for him to beg anything to others. He never cares for the validation of other people around him. Yet, Tharun has not forgotten the memories of Sathya. This time, his father also know his breakup story.

Tharun was left with no other way, when his father asked the reason for the continuous quarrels with Tharun's mother. He revealed his breakup with Sathya and the subsequent incidents that happened. Initially angry, Tharun's father later on understands him and said, "Try to resolve the problems, that you started da. Forget Sathya. She won't come back."

Now, Tharun is unexpectedly the topper in the first two semesters of PG amongst boys. His friends torture him to send notes and gets the pen, pencil, notebook whenever they need that. Since, they never bring it to the class. Little success didn't bother Tharun much.

While sitting in the steps of his old UG department, Tharun again recalled the last day of his Final Year Project. He went near to Sathya for the third time to talk. Previously, he talked with her for two times during the CA(Continuous assessment) exams. 

Tharun asked Sathya, "What's your next plan Sathya? Have you cleared CA Foundation?"

"I failed in CA." Sathya replied.

"Next plan? Job or Higher studies?"

"Going to pursue my ACCA in Bangalore." Sathya said. After that she asked Tharun: "What about you?"

"Have applied for PG here" said Tharun.  

At present, All Tharun expected was the arrival of Sathya for the convocation days. Whenever there's birthday for his UG friends, Tharun never failed to wish them during 2024. Through this, he ensured that there's continuous contact with them. At that time, when he called one of his friends and asked about Sathya, they said: "I am not even in contact with her da. I don't know where is she too."

"When did you talk with her at last?"

"Finally, in project and last semester only. After that, no contact with her." As three to four of his friends said the same, Tharun realized that Sathya has cut all contacts with her UG friends, except Reshika. He waited for her until the day of convocation.

PRESENT

03 DECEMBER 2024

On 3rd December 2024, fourth semester of final year PG begins for Tharun. This time, he deleted all the photos of Sathya from his phone. At the same time, he shifts the photos of UG convocation to his laptop.

Tharun opened the professional ACS course notes, sent by his father for writing his December 2024 Executive program exams. Since, he has to revise the lessons rather than to think about Sathya. Before that, he turned off the read receipts in Whatsapp.

"No whatsapp status about her and no contacts with my UG friends from now. Rather than to think about Sathya, I should focus on myself. She has changed in this one year. It's time for me to realize my self- worth than to think about the things I lost. As said by my friend, if I dig the wound, it will become big. I ensured that Sathya is happier. A good lover always expects for the happiness of other person. I am happy that she's good. Now, I should focus on myself. I have got a job through campus placements. But that's not enough. My goals and ambitions should be higher!"
