Lost Love In The Lost Eyes

Trina, an economics professor, was sipping coffee and reading a book at her favourite Cafe, when she felt someone come to her table. And she was right, it was a guy, around her age, but something didn't feel right. It took Trina a few seconds to realise, who the guy standing in front of her was, and it was quite a surprise. It was John, her friend, her neighbour, and also the boy she once fell in love with. Once, his shiny big black eyes behind glasses, were the only things Trina dreamt about, the eyes, that made her weak at knees, that gave her hope and love, when she wasn't sure of this world. The person she wanted to talk for hours, but didn’t get the chance to, the person she fell for, but couldn’t tell him, the person, whose presence only, would make Trina's day amazing.

But seeing that same person now, Trina felt nothing. John breaking the silence, made her come back to reality. He asked "How have you been?". Trina thought she'd give a bitter answer, but she didn’t, instead she said " It's been over 14 years, we both have changed so much and yes, I have been good." and John agreed, after 10 minutes of small talk, Trina got up from her seat by saying "It was nice talking to you John, but I really have to go now, see you soon.".

And that's how she left the Cafe, no emotions, no feelings, no nostalgia, nothing, if someone told this to Trina, some years back, she wouldn’t believe it, people change a lot afterall.
