PSG COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCE, COIMBATORE

19 SEPTEMBER 2021

8:30 AM

Around 8:30 AM in PSG College of Arts and Science, Sharan comes as usual to the college. Most of the time he would be happy and jovial, unless and until someone tries to intimidate him. Today, he is very much happy and cheerful. After noticing him, Adhithya slowly neared him to talk with him. After noticing Kathirvel, his friend Adhithya proceeds to hold him. He holds his shoulder tighter.

Abhin asked him: "Hey. Is he your wife ah da? Holding him grip and tight. Take your hands da." "It's called as close friendship, Abhin" said Adhithya. Noticing Sharan's happiness, Adhithya asked: "What Sharan sir? You are happier than usual. Anything special?" He blinked his eyes for a while to heal his eye irritation. "Keep smiling, because life is a beautiful thing and there's so much to smile about" said Sharan.

Abhin and Kathirvel are surprised by hearing this. "Buddy. Pinch my hands da!" said Abhin, to which Kathir pinched him, and he says "Yes. This is the truth." "What Sharan? Did you read the quotes of Marilyn Monroe?"

Adhithya smiled to which he said: "Monroe or someone. But to be frank, Life would be tragic if it weren't funny."

Sharan, Abhin, Kathirvel and Adhithya are third-year college students, who are about to finish their fifth semester. Unlike Kathirvel and Abhin Manoj, Sharan and Adhithya wanted to be active in various activities.

Abhin and Kathirvel wish to get placed in top-most companies of India. While, Adhithya aspires to become a government officer by clearing TNPSC Examinations and Sharan wishes to become an Indian Army officer. He is active in NCC.

Adhithya serves as the Chairman of Road Safety program under NSS- Youth India. He is also active in PSGCAS- Third Hand Club. It's a club meant for disabled and specially-abled students.

Adhithya also have an agenda to brush off political parties- DMK and ADMK at once and for all in Tamil Nadu. His father constantly criticizes him for being a liar and bad mouth. However, he doesn't listen to him owing to some dark past, that he continued to maintain since 11th grade.

Sharan comes from an agricultural background. He has a twin brother Balasurya, who is studying in GRD College. Coming from a loving family, he wishes his wife to be humble and loving. While, Adhithya doesn't have any interests to marry. Since, his only agenda is to destroy corrupt political parties in Tamil Nadu. Being their final year, he doesn't concentrate on fun elements and entertainment.

He becomes busy in NSS, Third Hand Club, College activities and studies. One day, he gets a call from Govind, a man who promised to promote his short-stories as a book. He says, "Hi Adhithya. Good morning. How are you?" "I am fine sir." After some talks, he said: "Your book is ready. By this month's end, there's a promotion event. I wish you to be present there." He unveiled this happy news to Sharan.

Adhithya wanted Sharan to be a part of his book audio launch, which he happily agrees. On 30th September 2021, Adhithya promotes his book where he speaks about 1990 Kashmir genocide, the pains and sufferings of Kashmir Pandits.

Sharan felt sleepy and tired. However, he wakes up after noticing a young and beautiful girl, who is listening to the plight of Kashmir Pandits in tears. She is wearing green sari, with gorgeous face expressions.

After the audio launch is over, Sharan keeps on sighting the girl. Looking at Adhithya, he asked: "Adhi. Have you ever loved a girl?" "I never know what's meant by love da."

Looking at the girl, Sharan says: "Now, I know the real meaning of love." Deducing the same, Adhithya asked Sharan: "Hey. What are you saying?" "I don't know what happened da. I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I feel like I want the rest of my life to start as soon as possible." As Sharan said this, Adhithya advised him not to do such things. "Don't need your advise."

Tell me what's her name?" asked Sharan, to which Adhithya replied: "Her name is Sakthi Pandit, my close friend Shiva Pandit brother's younger sister." "Is she our class?" asked Sharan to which Adhithya replied: "She is our college. Second year- B.Com(Accounting and Finance)."

Slowly, Sharan befriends her. They talk as usual, like other college students. Seeing her humble and loving nature, he slowly falls in love with her. They go to Prozone Mall, Fun Mall and KG Cinemas for having fun. One day, Adhithya sits worried in the class. Seeing this, Kathir asked him: "Why are you upset da? Since, Sharan is not spending time with you?" "No da. I am not worried about that. I am worried about Sakthi."

Adhithya said. He added, "You, Sharan and Abhin doesn't know about the drastic past of Shiva brother and Sakthi. I, as their family friend know well about their pain and plight." Sharan, who just then came heard of this and questioned Adhithya regarding the same. After looking them for some time, he revealed about Sakthi.

FEW YEARS BACK

Dreadful in her case. Her family is a Hindu used to live in mithi,(Sindh-Pakistan), probably the only town in Pakistan with Hindu Majority. It was 2019. Her neighbour had their daughter's wedding sometime in December. Knowing the pitiful condition of non-Islamic people in Pakistan Shiva Pandit's father Mahadev Pandit decided against taking his kids to the function. He himself wouldn't have gone had it not been for their special request. He along with his wife Aparna Tickoo went to the party, being the outcast no-one really bothered talking to them. They saw the ritual being performed, gave gifts to bride and groom.

After having dinner, Mahadev uncle decides to get back early. Because kids had their exams next day. While they were walking back to the garage in the basement, all of a sudden someone put a strong rope round uncle's neck, trying to suffocate him, with such sudden attack. He couldn't keep up neither see who they were. He fainted, once he was awake he found himself lying in some desert area with nothing in vision. He felt immense pain, as if having been beaten. He could not stand up that entire day, struggled to walk by the dawn, somehow reached nearby highway by next morning and managed to get a lift. That evening he managed to reach his home to find all his belongings robbed, even the plastic chairs and TV set were gone. His children had been beaten too. He could not find his wife there. He reached out to their neighbours, but most of them had gone to pay visit to their wedding counterparts unaware of what happened to my uncle. He went to the police station to file a complaint against the attack and disappearance of his wife. They didn't seem too interested in filing complaint, they asked him to wait for a few days, made abusive comments on his wife that she might have fled with her lover and having pleasure with him. He fought for her dignity which only led up to being jailed for that whole night.

FEW YEARS BACK

PRESENT

"He never saw his wife again. He never knew what happened to her till date." Adhithya explained the guys, at present.

With some tears, Sharan said: "Some events are very cruel and painful da. Is Pakistan this cruel?" Adhithya smiled. Wiping off his tears, he said: "You know? They are not cruel. Indeed, they are too monstrous in their behavior."

FEW YEARS BACK

LAHORE

Finally, after his neighbours returned, they helped my uncle a lot. They came along with him to police station. Police finally reported his complaint, but then that was about it. He doesn't think they cared much about the case. His neighbours were very sympathetic and helped us a lot emotionally and financially. They shifted to Karachi next year, putting their flat on rent. Life went back to normal,

Sakthi Pandit was in high school by 2020 and boy in college. He went to pick up his girl every day from her tuition. This January she didn't turn up after her tuition was over. He went about asking her usual friends and then her tuition teacher. He said that they held a surprise test today. She completed her test early, submitted her sheet and went out. My uncle started panicking, went about searching for her. Shiva Pandit bro wasn't informed anything. Since he has internship set in Lahore. He'd have left everything and come. Police didn't help again this time. Uncle went about searching for her everywhere on highways, nearby lakes, showed her photo to everyone he came across. After four days, he lost all hope, called his son up that night, sitting like a beggar by the road, cried for the first time in front of Shiva brother, like a helpless father. He came back in 2 days time. They went to Karachi to seek help from the police there. They seemed quite supportive, they asked him to go back home and that they'd do all they could to find her. Next day while my uncle was sitting in his balcony, analysing his life, how he failed to save his wife and now his own daughter, he saw his daughter coming with torn clothes about her.

PRESENT

"He knew then what had happened to her. They raped her for five days, made her do unusual things I cannot explain. He decided then to leave Pakistan, applied for visa to India, but it was denied, possibly because of the tension on Pakistan-India border due to soldier beheading case. They went to Saudi Arabia in March and then to India just last month."

Adhithya said wiping off his tears. He requested Sharan to take care of the girl. Since, he himself have failed to be loyal to a girl, who was a motherless child and sensitive. Now, he is repenting for the mistakes, that he did in his life. "Will he go back to Pakistan ever?" asked Kathirvel to which Adhithya looks at him angry and said: "I hope he never has to go back to Pakistan ever. Because Pakistan is a country divided by religion, politician and terrorism." "Then, are you telling everyone bad?"

"Not all of them are bad. His neighbours were the best thing that could have happened to him. They made his fight their own while they were with him. He wanted to meet them before leaving Pakistan, but could not. He does not blame Islam religion for what happened to him. There are Islamic countries like Turkey, Indonesia among several others living in peace and harmony." Adhithya says. He further called Pakistan as a country with "Islamic extremist groups" who do notorious stuffs in the name of religion.

Sharan decides to take care of Sakthi with utmost care and affection. His mind is haunted about her well-being due to which he is unable to be happy and jovial like before. Whenever she requests him to take her for some place that gives her relief,

Sharan would accompany her. They travel together for places like Chalakkudy, Idukki and Adimali with their respective family's permission and approval. He sacrificed some of his classes to make her feel happy. One day after finishing his first semester exam,

Adhithya rushed to tell him important news. Upon hearing the news, Sharan rushed to KMCH hospitals to see Sakthi, receiving treatment. Shiva Pandit holds the hands of Sharan and said: "Thank God Sharan. You have come here.

Adhithya and she used to talk a lot about you. She is happier because of you. My father also shared lots of good things about you. She is very sensitive da. Please take care of her." For the first time,

Sharan breaks down and cried for a loved one since his childhood days. Consoling him, Adhithya said: "My father used to tell me: For men, salary is important and for women, virginity is important. But virginity, etc. are all heights of stupidity and idiotic da. True love is above everything. My father knew them well though I haven't talked much except for Shiva brother. Since the rape,

Sakthi never regained her usual self. She was happy only because of you. But, once again, she reminded off the horror, after reading news about 2019 Priyanka Reddy gang rape case. It's her first suicide attempt."

Sharan promised him to take care of her by costing his life, at least. They embraced each other.

MONTHS LATER

5 AUGUST 2022

COIMBATORE

Sharan have completed his college degree. He is now an Indian Army officer. While, Adhithyais studying for his mains exam. Abhin and Kathirvel worked as an employee in Deloitte company. And Shiva Pandit is working as Auditor. They all go to visit Sakthi in KMCH hospitals. She has now gone to coma stage.

Sharan hopes for her recovery soon. (The story takes first person narration mode to keep the flow intense and gripping.)

FEW MONTHS BACK

Sakthi requested me to spend some qualitative time with her to which I accept. Other than my NCC hours and college time, I mostly spent my time with her. When we went for a trip to Palakkad, Sakthi asked me: "Hey. Do you have anything like first love or second love?" Thinking a while, Sharan said "Yes." He continued: "Before starting my previous love story, I want to convey to you that I am not an innocent boy at all Sakthi. First porn in 4th standard and sex in 7th standard."

SCHOOL DAYS OF SHARAN

"I saw that you were perfect, and so I loved you. Then I saw that you were not perfect and I loved you even more." Sharan said. Later on, We booked a lodge to stay for one day so that, we could go for Athirapally Waterfalls, the next day.

When relaxing in the room, Sakthi wore beautiful red sari and came near to me. Now she asked me: "Sharan. What's the meaning of sex?"

I found it difficult to explain or reply her about the exact meaning of sex. However, she asked me: "May I tell it's meaning?" As I looked down for a while, she said: "The deepest moments of intimacy occur when you're not talking. Sex is about the quality of your entire love life, not the intricate alignment of your bodies."

Sakthi paused for sometimes. Since, I got an important message from Adhithya. After talking with him in the phone, I came back. Now Sakthi said: "Love is relative. It could mean sex to some; kissing to others and a whole lot of foreplay to yet others. But, the one thing that stays true to all these three is that love, my dear friend, is an art. A well-performed, indulgent form of art that can only be mastered by the innate feeling of it all. Emotional or purely physical is another debate altogether. When you're in bed with a woman; what you're primarily doing to her is making love; making her feel things she may or may not have felt before. You instill in her feelings, no matter how momentary, or everlasting they might be." She expressed her wishes to have sex with me, to which I initially refused. But, I eventually obliged to her wishes.

As I gave her grapes juice, she drinks the juice and told me: "When you're in bed with a woman you're creating art—a poem, a song, a story, or a painting. You're creating energy and movement that makes even the disbelieving woman believe. The atheist convert and the angered calm their nerves." Now, I looked her eyes for a while and smiled.

We went for a drive to Mazhampuzha dam where I asked her, "What she wants to do." She told me what she wants to do and I took her back to the lodge. After offering her some water, I played some soft music and asked her, "If she's comfortable" and touched her arm lightly. When talking with her, I leaned in and asked questions about herself. I noticed how she laughed and smiled at me. Holding her gaze, I leaned in a bit more. Touching her cheek, I said: "She's beautiful."

Kissing her softly on her lips. I didn't make it hard and kept it soft and lingered. Pulling away a little, I let her to see my face. She leaned in. I kissed her more by lingering my lips. I took the lead and let her follow me. Then, I pulled her close by holding her by the waist.

I didn't force the touch. Since, it came naturally. She came closer to me and I noticed her body language and noticed how she moves. I hold her in my arms gently and trailed a finger down her back, feeling the fabric of her dress on my skin. Running my fingers through her hair, I trailed a finger along her jawline to hold her chin up to me.

Then, I took her by my hand and lighted a fire- in the bedroom and in her. Taking my own time, I lingered. Now, I kissed her more passionately to let her know that I want her right there, right then. I slowly removed her dress, like sculpting a statue. Like teaching her to break free. I noticed how her body shifted right into my arms. I let her unbutton my shirt and let her take her time. I never stopped kissing her and continued to linger on her lips. I took her hands in me and entwined my fingers. Then, I gently stroked the nape of her neck and gently kissed her. I carried her in my arms and lead her to the bedroom.

You can make love in any part of the house. But it should always start in the bedroom. I lay her down in the bed. I admired her in that moment. Like I am grateful as she's with me. I felt lucky to be with her right then. I didn't hesitate—not for a second, not for a minute. I let her know I am sure of this; of myself. I let her know what I want to make her feel, And then, make her feel all of it. With every move and every touch, I didn't leave her eyes or her lips.

We both were sleeping with the help of a blanket. Sakthi suddenly opened her eyes and waked me up. She said: "Sharan. Love, emotional or physical is all about giving. It's all about expressing what you want. When you're taking a woman, you're giving to her one of the utmost pleasures of the world. You want her to feel special. Not because of you, but, because she deserves to. When you're taking a woman, you take all the time in the world—as long as she wants you to. Making love is about being there, in the act. It's not a means to an end. The means is the end. And that's what makes the ending even better."

Remember, she is there because she wants to be there. Not because you make her want to be there. Not because she needs you. So when you make love to a woman, like a real man, you are really just saying "Thank you, for being here." So when you make love to woman, like a real man should, you let her in so she can let you in.

Some months later after several of happy and memorable moments, Sakthi's birthday comes which is celebrated grand. Sharan and Adhithya arranged some good entertainment programs for her with the help of their family members to make her feel happier. She wears up some beautiful saris and enjoyed the party.

During the party, Shiva Pandit felt happier and glad to see Sakthi very much jovial and cheerful, which they were longing to see for a long time. He thanked Adhithya and Sharan for this special moment in their life. Few days later, Sakthi visits the house of Adhithya to invite him for an important function, arranged by the College Principal. In the house, Adhithya's mother Geetharani and his father Krishna were there.

Geetharani is a ruthless woman, who's talkative and badmouth. Adhithya's life was filled with sorrows and pain because of her. He fell into depression and agony unable to cry or express his pains to anyone, including his own father. She destroyed several of his plans, that he put to make himself happier and cheerful. Still more, he treats her with disrespect and harsh words against the advice of his father.

Geetha already knew the sad past of Sakthi and felt pity of her initially. But reminding of the mental tortures and sufferings that her son gave him for long time, she showcased her anger to Sakthi by telling her, "For men, salary is important. For women, virginity is very much important. So, take care of your health ma." An angry Krishna asked her to get lost and apologized to her for his wife's dastardly words. However upon hearing the words of Geetha, This deeply hurts Sakthi.

Thinking that she is a trouble to her elder brother, father, Sharan and Adhithya's family, she writes a letter in which she states this as followed:

"Pa, Brother. I am writing this letter with lots of pain and agony in my heart. My heart is bruised with depression and sadness. Although you, Sharan, Abhin, Kathirvel and Adhithya are trying best to make my life normal and happy, this wicked world does not permit to do so. Today, Adhithya's mother insulted about my virginity and said me a rape victim. Tomorrow, anyone can insult me so. Because, neither India and Pakistan have strict laws and enforcement for women and rapists. Girija Tickoo was gang-raped by a group of Muslim tyrants in Kashmir. But, the rapists continued to roam freely and happier. Please don't search for me. Because, I am going for a place, that could give me peace and harmony, away from human beings."

Adhithya beats his mom severely in anger and lashed out at her for showing her anger to an innocent Sakthi. He and Sharan search for Sakthi for three days. After three days, they gets a news from someone that, "Sakthi have fainted across the NH4 Tollgate of Karumattampatti-Somanur highway." They immediately rushed and admitted her in KMCH hospitals.

In the hospitals, the doctors examined Sakthi and came to meet her family members, Adhithya and Sharan. There, Sharan and Adhithya asked: "Doctor. How is she? Is everything alright?"

Blinking for a second, the doctor replied: "She went into depression, pain and agony for several years for some reasons right!"

"Yes doctor." Shiva Pandit said and the doctor pointed out that, "She have attempted to suicide for two times" to which, her father nods his head. Now, the doctor said: "She is psychologically affected. As a result of her deep depression and refusal to take foods, she have fainted. Only after 24 hours, we could tell what's her state of well-being."

Sharan's twin brother Balasurya asked the doctor: "Doctor. Will things become normal?"

"There's a chance for her to recover if god permits." The doctor said and added, "It's our duty to save her. We'll try our best." With tears in his eyes, Sharan asked: "Doctor. May I see her?"

Thinking for a while, the doctor said: "Without disturbing her, you go and see her." Sharan went inside to see Sakthi. Trips and glucose were going inside the arms of Sakthi. There, Sharan said: "What Sakthi? You are laying here lifeless. I am expecting you to wake up so that, we could experience the beauty of this world. But, you cheated me like this." Taking a ring, he said in tears: "You know what is this? It's a ring, that I have got for you. I love that you are the last person I want to talk to before I go to sleep at night. Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies. My love for you has no depth, its boundaries are ever-expanding. Please don't leave me alone di. Come sooner." He cried by holding her arms lightly. Coming out of the room, he cried embraced by a tearful Adhithya.

Later on, the doctors said, "Sakthi went into coma stage and requested Sharan-Adhithya-Shiva Pandit to visit the girl frequently. Since, there are chances for her to escape the stage of coma." They agreed to the request of doctors. During his leave from Indian Army training, Sharan visits her frequently. While, Adhithya visits her in the weekend alongside his TNPSC Examinations with Shiva Pandit. Things didn't improve despite their best efforts to wake her up through motivating words.

PRESENT

At present, Sharan visits the room of Sakthi, where he says: "Sakthi. When I see your face, there's not a thing that I would change, 'cause you're amazing – just the way you are. Because of you, I can feel myself slowly, but surely, becoming the me I have always dreamed of being. We loved with a love that was more than love. True love is rare, and it's the only thing that gives life real meaning. Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction. You're always the first and the last thing on this heart of mine. No matter where I go, or what I do, I'm thinking of you." Wiping off his tears, he added: "When I saw you I fell in love, and you smiled because you knew. True love is putting someone else before yourself. If I had to choose between breathing and loving you I would use my last breath to tell you I love you. Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things. Come on, Sakthi. Get up. Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game. Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people's thinking." Sharan lost his hope and almost goes to the door. But, he sees Sakthi's hands moving and feels happier.

The doctors say that, she have successfully came out of coma stage. Shiva embraced Sharan in happiness. While, Sakthi's father thanked the almighty. Few months later, Sakthi gets discharged from the hospitals. Sharan-Sakthi's engagement are about to be fixed after consulting the family members and astrologer. Adhithya's mother apologized to Sakthi for her hurting comments. Now, she have completely reformed as a good human being.

Now, Sharan is triple times happier than he used to be. Noticing this, Kathirvel asked: "Hey. It seems you are happier than usual. Why da?"

Turning back at him, he replied: "Because, Sakthi is now back to the stage of normal. She realized the importance of love, laughter and living a beautiful life. Life would be tragic if I failed to be happier. The longer I live, the more beautiful life becomes. The greatest pleasure of life is my love with Sakthi."

Now, Adhithya holds the shoulder of Kathir and he asked him to take his hands. Since, it's a public place. With no shame, he laughed and said: "In friendship, it's all common da." An angry Abhin takes a nearby stone and said, "Bastard. Go inside the room, before I turn into an animal."

"Only when you turn into animal, I would go in da." Adhithya said laughing. Abhin kicked him inside the house. While, Sharan and Sakthi embraced by hugging each other.
