Hunger Awaits (Chapter-28)

FIVE YEARS LATER.....

Kendra's POV,

"Hurry up Kendra your going to be late for your own wedding." Audrey's voice rang out from down the stairs. I smiled as I took one last look in the mirror. If you had asked me six years ago if I thought I would be marrying the man of my dreams right now, I probably would have laughed. The last five years have taught me a lot especially about who I am and where I came from.

“Kendra Maria Meeks. If you don't get your behind down here I am coming up there for you." My mother's voice hollered out.

“I'm coming. You know it is my wedding they can't start without me." I laughed out, as I picked up the bottom of my wedding dress and started down the stairs. My dress was a princess style all white with lace on the top to cover my shoulders. It was probably the second dress I had tried on and I fell in love instantly. As I approached the end of the stairs I heard my mother gasp. I looked at her and saw a huge smile spread across her face.

“You look absolutely beautiful my dear." She said as she wrapped me in a huge hug. I smiled as I saw a tear fall down her cheek.

“Aw mom, don't cry please. Otherwise I'm going to cry and that's not good." I said and we both laughed.

“Oh my." I heard from behind us and turned to see my father standing there watching us. "You look great baby girl." He said as he walked up to us. I smiled up at him.

“Thanks dad." He took my hand.

“Are you ready?" He asked. I nodded and my mother, Audrey and Bree headed out to the hall that the resort had let us use. It was all decked out in baby blues and white, my colors I had chose for the wedding. My father and I stood at the entrance and the music started. He took my arm and walked me down the isle to my future. I looked up and locked eyes with Matto. He looked so handsome in his tux and I knew that our life was just starting. Koda, Jace and Paxton stood at his sides and Audrey, Bree and Tenaya stood waiting for me. My mother was in the front row balling her eyes out as my father and I approached the front. Chayton had gotten ordained as a minister and was going to marrying us. I smiled as my father handed me over to Matto and then took his seat.

“You look beautiful my little white wolf." Matto whispered in my ear. I smiled up at him as we stood in front of Chayton and our friends and family.

The wedding was beautiful and Matto and I shared our love for each other with everyone. We vowed to love each other forever and to always protect and cherish each other. Chayton pronounced us husband and wife and Matto wrapped me up and kissed me passionately. Our friends and family cheered and blew bubbles at us as we ran up the isle and out to the reception area. We greeted our guest and talked and danced as happily as we could be. It was starting to get late and Matto pulled me off to the side. "Are you ready to go on our honeymoon my love?" He asked. I nodded and smiled at him.

“I'm ready to go anywhere with you." Matto announced that we were leaving and everyone lined up outside to see us off. I kissed my mother and father goodbye and watched as Paxton approached us.

“Matto, I just want to say thank you." He said. I cocked my head at him.

“What for?" Matto asked him. Paxton looked down.

“For loving her and protecting her. I know that you are a good man and I know that she will be well taken care of with you." Matto reached out and shook Paxton's hand.

“I will always take care of her." He said and then we jumped into the waiting limo and headed to the airport. We were flying to California and then taking a cruise up to Alaska. We had taken the longer trip so that we could spend some time in Alaska.

We spent three blissful weeks running in the Alaskan wilderness and making love in both human and wolf form. It was the best time I had ever spent and I was doing it with the love of my life. We were finally mated in every way. "I love you so much my sexy husband." I said as we were lying in our cabin room. He watched me and then bent down and kissed me.

“I love you to my beautiful wife." We made love that night and I felt something different this time. It was as if i could feel my womb open up to his seed and create life. I thought I was crazy so I brushed it off. When we arrived back home Tenaya looked at me and smiled. She walked over and whispered in my ear.

“Are we going to be having a baby shower soon?" She asked. I looked at her and laughed.

“I don't think so. It's funny you say that, because I felt something different while we made love on our honeymoon." She watched me.

“You know that as a wolf your instincts are heightened. Your body is trying to tell you something." I looked in disbelief at her and shook my head.

“I doubt that, but what the hell, let's go find out shall we." We laughed and I told the boys we were running to the store.

An hour later I sat in the bathroom with Tenaya next to me staring at the two blue lines. "I can't believe it." I said. Tenaya smiled.

“I told you. Your body knows and was telling you." I smiled at her. I was so ready for this. I could already feel my maternal instincts kicking in. We walked out to the boys and I took a seat next to Matto. He wrapped his arms around me and kissed the top of my head.

“What were you two doing in there?" He asked.

“Oh nothing much. Just taking this." I handed him the pregnancy test and a huge smile spread across his face.

“Are you serious? I'm going to be a daddy?" I smiled as he jumped up and pulled me into a big hug. Everyone in the room was smiling and laughing at us.

"Congrats you two." Koda said. Tenaya smiled at us then turned to Koda.

“Well I'm glad your happy for them because I have a surprise for you to." She said as she handed him her pregnancy test. His mouth dropped open.

“Really baby?" She nodded and he to jumped up and hugged her tightly.

“Let's go for a run." I said and they all nodded at me.

We all took off out of the cabin and made our way to the top of the mountain. We stopped on the cliff and looked down at our community we had built. The tribe had already grown to over a hundred people and it was growing more everyday. We were all happy and safe here. The resort had hired most of the men for different jobs and I had gotten a few of the woman jobs with me at the cafe. Everything was just wonderful. The five of us sat there in silence looking at our world and we all had peace. Nothing was ever going to hurt us again and now we were bringing two new life's into this amazing world. The sun started to set and the shadow casted down on our little village. It was breath taking and peaceful. "Come on guys, let's go home." I said to them all. We headed back down the mountain and I felt a sense of happiness and love that I had never felt until now. My families emotions played in my head and I knew that I was home.

“I love you Kendra." Matto said.

“I love you to Matto."
