Hunger Awaits (Chapter-16)

Kendra's POV

"Wake the fuck up you bitch! I am tired of waiting. Go take a shower and be ready for me in an hour." Ryker's voice was stern and I knew that he was going to take what he wanted. I sat up, as he left the room. There was a pile of fresh clothes and a towel sitting on the end of the bed. I have to make my escape now. I knocked on the bedroom door and Hunter opened it. He lead me to the bathroom and closed the door behind me. I looked around and realized that there was a bigger window in here. I turned the shower on and let the water warm up. I knew I only had a little bit of time but if I could be quite enough I could get out. I jumped in the shower and quickly washed then got dressed. I left the shower running and slipped the window open. Just as I was about to push myself out the window Matto's voice came into my head.

"Kendra where are you beautiful?" I heard his sweet voice and I was completely floored. How in the hell?

"Matto?" I thought to myself. How could he be doing this?

"Listen to me. I will explain everything later, but right now I need you to stay calm. I am coming for you I am close." I didn't know how he was doing it but I immediately felt a sense of calm wash over me. I need to get out now. I pushed myself through the window just as I heard the bathroom door open.

"Damn it! Get her!" I heard Ryker's voice, as I took off running.

"I am escaping now Matto. I just made it out of the house, but I can hear Ryker." I kept running because I had no idea what Ryker would do if he caught me.

"Keep running Kendra. I am coming." His voice made me run faster all I wanted was to get back to him.

I couldn't hear Ryker's voice anymore, but I could still hear someone running behind me. I made a sharp turn to the left to try and confuse him, but it didn't work. He was close and I felt the panic filling my body. "Matto!" I thought just as I felt claws dig into my back and knock me down to the ground. I rolled over and saw Ryker in his wolf form standing over me. His eyes locked on me then he started to tear at my clothes with his claws. "Please Stop Ryker! You are hurting me." I cried out in pain as his claws dug into my skin. I could feel the blood trickling down my body and I thought for sure that he would kill me. He stopped clawing at me leaving my clothes almost completely torn off, leaving me fully exposed to him. I tried to back away from him, but he stopped me with his claw and pinned me down. He shifted back and yelled at me.

“I’ll make you mine whether you want it or not.” The look in his eyes made me realize what he was going to do and it made me sick. How could he even think of doing this to me it's not natural. I could feel my eyes grow bigger as he positioned himself over me ready to take my innocence from me. "Please don't do this Ryker." I cried out to him.

He grabbed my hair and was getting ready to have his way when I felt him get ripped from me. His hand pulled my hair with him pulling some out. I cried out in pain and felt the tears fill my eyes. Through blurred vision, I saw Matto in his wolf form standing in front of me. His eyes were focused on Ryker and Ryker who had shifted back to his wolf form, was focused on him. I knew they were talking to each other but I couldn't hear them now. I felt my body starting to give in to the loss of blood as my blurred vision became darker and darker. I hung on long enough to see Ryker run off and Matto shift back to his human form. I felt his arms around me as he lifted me up to his warm body and that was all I remember.

Two days later...

My eyes fluttered open and I started to panic. No one was with me that I could see and I thought that maybe Ryker had come back and got me. I tried to sit up and realized that I was hooked up to an IV and other medical equipment. It then dawned on me that I was in a hospital room. The low beep of the heart monitor and slow drip of the IV made me calm down a little. However, I still didn't know where Matto was and if he was ok. I looked around and didn't see anyone in my room. I started to panic again and reached out for the call button. I felt it in my hand when I felt I warm hand come over mine. I looked up and Matto was standing next to me. "Shhh shhh, it's ok Kendra. I am here and you are safe." His words were like music to my ears, as he stood there holding my hand. All the fear and panic melt away and I knew I was safe.

"Matto I am sorry." I made the words come out. He looked at me confused.

"Sorry for what beautiful?" He said to me as he sat down on the chair next to my bed.

"I'm sorry that I got you mixed up in all of this. I completely understand if you want to run away. I never thought that Ryker was so insane." I said to him as I lowered my eyes away from his. He placed his hand on my chin and cupped it. He pulled my chin up to make me look at him. His eyes were soft and sincere as he spoke to me.

"Kendra I am never going anywhere. Ryker will be dealt with eventually even if I have to go hunt him down. Kendra I know it might be hard to understand know, but I believe you are my mate. I believe we are meant to be together for life." His words should have made me want to run away screaming, but instead, I felt the same way. Every time I thought of him or being away from him it hurt and I didn't know why. His word however made sense to me. I was about to say something when a nurse walked in.

"Your awake Ms. Meeks. Mr. Walker can you give us a few minutes so I can change her bandages and have the doctor come take a look at her."

Matto nodded at the nurse and walked out of the room. The nurse smiled at me as she helped me sit up so she could change my bandage around my torso. "You know he hasn't left your side since he brought you here." She said to me. I smiled back at her.

"Really? Not even to go and change clothes or eat?" She shook her head.

"Nope, your other friends have been bringing him food and clothes. The police will want to talk to you soon. Are you feeling up to that?" I nodded even though I knew it wouldn't do any good I still needed to keep Matto's secret safe. Once she was done the nurse called for the doctor to come in. I was taken back when he walked in. He was probably in his late twenties, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was very attractive and young to be a doctor.

"How are we feeling Ms. Meeks?" He asked me. I looked up at him.

"Ok. A little soar and my memory is a little fuzzy." He smiled down at me.

"Well, that is to be expected after such a horrible attack. I still can't believe you are alive right now. You are very lucky that Mr. Walker found you when he did."

I just nodded and let him finish his exam. When he was done he gave me the ok to go home the next day. "Your wounds are healing remarkably fast and I think you should be ok to go home tomorrow morning. I just want to run a few more tests and the police are here to talk with you." I said ok and he left the room. Matto came back in and sat next to me.

"Are you sure you are ok with talking with the police right now?" I nodded.

"Yeah. I know it won't matter, but they won't just leave me alone unless I tell them something." He agreed just as a detective walked in. She was a pretty little brunette, but she walked in with authority. She was a little intimidating at first, but when she spoke I could feel the sincerity.

"Hello, Ms. Meeks how are you feeling?" I smiled at her and Matto stiffened up in the chair next to me.

"I am doing better what can I help you with today detective?"

We talked for about an hour and I told her about Ryker and how he had kidnapped me from the airport. I told her everything that didn't involve Matto or Ryker being wolves. "So once you escaped the house Ryker took chase after you. Then you lost him but in return got lost yourself. Then what happened?" I shrugged my shoulders.

"I was attacked by a wolf who was probably rabid or something. I was able to fight it off but was hurt to bad to get out to the main road for help. I eventually passed out from the blood loss and woke up here." She seemed to be buying my story. Then she turned to Matto.

"Mr. Walker, you were out looking for her right?" Matto nodded.

"Yes, Kendra is my girlfriend so when her friend called me and told me she was missing I flew here to help search for her." The detective nodded.

"Ok. I think I have all I need for now. I will be in contact if I need more from you."

"Ok, thank you, detective... I am sorry I didn't catch your name." I said to her. She smiled at me as she put her notepad back in her pocket.

"Knight. Detective Knight. Thank you again, Ms. Meeks." She walked out the door and I sighed in relief. At least she seemed to buy my story.

"You did great Kendra. Now, why don't you get some rest and we will get you home tomorrow morning." I nodded at Matto. He was being so great and thoughtful. He held my hand and I drifted off back to sleep. I couldn't wait to get out of here and to go home with him.

The next day the doctor said all the tests where good and I could go home. Matto wheeled me out to the car where Audrey was waiting. She ran up to me as Matto was helping me up. She threw her arms around me and squeezed a little to tight. "Ok ok Audrey to tight. I am sore as hell." She pulled away from me with an apologetic look on her face.

"Sorry. I'm just so glad you are ok. Everyone is at the house waiting for you. Let's go." I just laughed and we all got in the car. Everyone was at the house including my parents and Jace and Koda. I couldn't get a minute to myself once I walked through the door. My parents seemed to really like Matto and it even seemed like Paxton had came around to.

We stuck around for another few days until I was healed more and able to travel. Matto had sent Jace and Koda back ahead of us so they could secure the cabin and get back to work. Matto hadn't let me out of his sight since he found me and it was sweet, but it was also a little overwhelming at times to. We walked through the airport and I got a little nervous when we came to the restroom that Ryker had taken me from. I had to really use the bathroom to. Matto squeezed my hand. "Go ahead it's safe and I will be right here." I nodded and went to the bathroom. When I came back out Matto took my hand and smiled. "Come on beautiful let's go home." I smiled back at him. Home I really liked the sound of that.
