An office is a place where many different people work for the same purpose, of course at different levels and positions. But, with time each one becomes familiar with one another and they start sharing their likes and dislikes. It becomes more informal with the passing time. Sometimes they do have funny moments at each other's behest. This story is about women working for a Government organization and how a prank made by one of the lady employees turned out funny which was taken seriously in the beginning. All is well.

" Good morning, ladies," said the Team leader of the group. There were about 20 odd lady employees working for a Government organization. Smriti was the youngest in this group. She was only 24 years old and had joined 3 months back. Office work was not so hectic. Everyone was okay with each other and life looked rosy. Most of the ladies were unmarried and young. There was only one lady who was married and was senior among others. All the employees addressed her as madam and sometimes as 'Didi'(elder sister in the Hindi language). Being young and enthusiastic these young ladies had a jolly good time and would never let go of any chance where they could play pranks at others' cost-and laugh. Two days prior to the festival of Holi, which is a festival of colours, fun, and frolic all the ladies decided they would play small mischief that would be so humorous. The plan was finalized during lunch break. As per the plan, they would paste a paper at each desk with a nickname as per their behaviour or mannerisms. The ladies promised among themselves that they would not reveal the name of the person who had come up with the nicknames. With a lot of enthusiasm they chose the youngest member of the group, yes, it was Sruti who would do the job. She would decide the nicknames and put them on paper and the rest of the job other ladies would do.

Back home after dinner Sruti sat down with a pen and paper and started making stickers out of plain paper. She opted for bright glittering sketch pens that would highlight the nicknames. As per the person and mannerisms, she started writing each nickname on a paper For example the first name that came to her mind was the back biter this was the name that came to her mind for the employee who was always talking ill about others at their back. The next one was the blaster who was very angry most of the time and shouted for the slightest reason. The next one was The bamboo for a tall person, The enthusiast who was very witty, and The Snob for an employee who was fond of showing off his belongings like watches, shoes, etc. She even had a name for the tallest employee in the Office Yes, it is Mr.Bachchan .There was another employee who never agreed with anyone on any matter, his thoughts too were unusual so she named him The Maverick. After giving nicknames to almost all of them excluding her boss she went to sleep. The next morning she had a lot of work you see.

At the Office, the next day Sruti and all the other lady employees waited for the lunch break when the male employees would go to the Office Canteen to have lunch. They placed each sheet consisting of the nicknames at particular seats and waited patiently till they all came back from lunch. Looking at the name slips after they came back from lunch few of them laughed it away, few were not bothered at the prank and few felt it was not right to do so. But, the blaster who would not let any chance to shout at others caught hold of this matter and directly entered the General manager's cabin and complained about the matter. By the way, he got away with blasting others in the Office because he was the brother-in-law of the GM.

Now, this was a big issue. The GM had no other option. He called all the lady employees and tried talking it out as to who had planned the prank. As they had promised each other none of them revealed any names. After everyone left his cabin to their respective tables, he called Sruti back as she was the youngest among them and a new joiner too. He pestered her to reveal the names of the planner of this mischief. But, Sruti denied knowing anything and so she was sent back to her table by the GM. Sruti got an inkling that the Manager did suspect her of the prank.

How he suspected her of the prank was beyond her guess. The result of this prank was most of them did not get any increment for a few months. They were always looked at with discern. Working under such conditions was not at all pleasant. Promotion seemed a distant dream now. But, luckily for Sruti, she got selected for another job with much better pay and perks for which she had applied a long time ago. It had nothing to do with the prank or after results of it.

But, this experience gave a big strong message that playing pranks even for fun should be avoided at any cost. It not only affects one's career but it even creates a lot of stress for everyone involved in it.
