She roamed the streets of the devastated town. Her town! Her home! Once her home sweet home!

There was nothing left, but ashes and debris.

She found her home. It stood there in shackles. The doors split and ripped apart. lying on the floor. She entered. The furniture was thrown apart and scattered all over. She was stunned. The rubble. She couldn't believe her eyes.

Roma rubbed her eyes in disbelief. She went to her bedroom. Her cosy bed now burnt to charcoal and the foam mattress, turned to a lump, melted, still smelt.

Roma felt nauseated. She covered her mouth with her handkerchief.

In a corner, she saw a ragged doll, buried under a mound.

She pulled it out and dusted it. Roma was looking around when she noticed a teddy bear, half burned, staring at her, with one eye only.

She pulled that too. That teddy was precious to her.

Roma entered the kitchen, only to find a frying pan lying on the floor. In the pan were remnants of eggs completely charred.

The dinner plates that she had laid on the table were shattered and tiny fragments scattered all over.

Roma was married she had a daughter, Ann.

It was Ann's 4th birthday.

Roma had prepared a delicious cake and dinner. Guests were about to arrive. When she heard a siren. Loud enough. And suddenly the door flung open

Jimmy, her husband barged in, pulled Roma and Ann and rushed out to a military truck that was parked outside her house.

People were running around, helter, skelter.! The truck immediately drove away. They must have driven 80 kilometres when Roma heard a loud blast. Deafening sound. Her town was bombarded.

Her town was a ghost town now.
