Half Dream

There was a beautiful couple that belongs to the goldsmith community. But the family was not at all engaged in their traditional business. Her husband was an employee in some government organization. He was working in an operational unit. The duties in the operational unit were round the clock as usual. If his reliever did not come on duty, he would have to perform the extra duty in place of the absent man on the duty. He, therefore, used to get extra financial benefits as overtime allowance. The couple was greedy for money. His wife had to infuse enthusiasm in him for performing overtime duties. He was not so strong enough to perform extra duties continuously. Being greedy he used to do so. When he was too young, he didn’t experience a bad impact on his health. He was a patient with asthma. He was always in search of overtime duties. He didn’t leave his batch till all the personnel of the reliving batch reported for duty. If by chance someone could not come, then he used to continue in place of him. He was least bothered about his food and health. Therefore he was internally growing weak and weaker with time.

                  

There was a big dream of a couple about one specious flat in some well-known locality. They booked the flat for themselves in some apartment as per choice in their mind. He borrowed the money from all possible sources and at the same time, he had taken a house loan for it. He had two sons. There were in a convent school. He was loaded with the very heavy expenditure of his family in spite of true income. They wanted to impart quality education to their son. His wife was also beautiful. She was fond of various of clothes and beauty parlors and its product. He was really facing a financial crisis. For overcoming this problem, he had to be busy doing overtime duties without caring health. Anyhow he managed the payment of a builder. The couple was handed over the flat key. The family was very much happy towards possession of their dream flat. They decided to shift to the new flat after doing the religious acts. The holy day was fixed for the completion of all traditional ceremonial functions. The whole family was very excited and worked hard for the home entrance ceremony. They invited their nearest relatives, friends and office colleague.  

The Master of the family was extremely happy as they were going to fulfil their dream. Unfortunately, a day before the grand function. when he was sitting in the chair, he was watching all activities of the next day's function. After some time, his wife called him for some urgent work. She noticed that he was not responding to her call. She went to him where he was in the chair. When she touched him, he fell on one side. She shouted. Her kids and neighbour gathered there. They called the doctor. When the doctor attended him, he was found dead. He told them that he was not alive. Then the case was sent to medical. After the postmortem, a team of doctors said that he was dead due to heart arrest because of extreme happiness. It was a very great tragedy for the family on the eve of the entrance home ceremony. It was cancelled due to his death. Family members completed his funeral the next day with sorrow. His wife was chapfallen due to unexpected unhappy events in her life. It was a very strong setback to her dream which was never thought of by her at crossroads. Her dream was to enjoy life with her husband in their new own flat with her kids.

When one door shuts, another door opens. She got a job in the same office on the companionate ground in the clerical cadre. Her sons were very bright. One of them completed graduation in engineering. He was absorbed in a job in some reputed company. Another son passed the entrance examination of the Indian Institute of technology. He was a cash cow in some multinational company in India after the completion of his degree. Both the sons got married. She invited her all colleagues to the grand ceremony of her son’s wedding. She had everything with time except her beloved life partner. Although she had all physical comfort for enjoyment, she was deprived of all emotional attachment of her husband. Haste makes waste. If she had cared for her husband health, she would not have lost her husband. One shouldn’t lose the forest for a few trees. The couple was very hurrying in earning the money having physical comfort at cost of health. In this way, she could only fulfil her half-dream in her life due to greediness. There was no use in crying over split milk.
