Doctor's Mechanic

One should not ignore or undermine the role of a physiotherapist (physio) who gives finishing touches to the patient's slow journey to complete recovery after getting discharged from hospital

A patient's recovery rate or progress rate depends on physio's deft and delicate handling of the patient which is a skill or an art by itself and requires lot of patience and dedication on the part of a physiotherapist

A Physio is as important and sometimes more important than the Doctor who treats the patient

If a medical Doctor is "God", then a Physio is "God's messenger and mechanic" who gives final touches or final therapy to the patient and in the process "repairs" and rejuvenates the patient fully who starts working again with full vigour

In other words, while the Doctor treats the patient, it is the Physio who teaches the patient to lead a life of physical and meaningful activity

After the surgery or operation, the first steps of the patient are made or taken by holding the firm and comfortable hands of the Physio who is the key to patient's motivation towards speedy recovery

It is not surprising therefore that a Physio becomes a part and parcel of the family that he visits regularly. Symbolically speaking, every household must have a "physio" at home for personal care and attendance. A blessed family is one which has a "physio" at home

There is a term called "Stockholm Syndrome" wherein the kidnapped victim, over a period of time, starts developing soft feelings for the kidnapper. 

Similar is the situation with a patient and a physio, wherein over a period of time, the patient starts bonding with the physio. Can we call this a physiophilic situation ? Maybe we can term this as a "Physiophilic Syndrome" !

All said and done, it is amply clear that a physiotherapist is undoubtedly a patient's best buddy and a wellwisher.
