Dasara is celebrated all over India. This festival is mainly celebrated to enjoy the victory of good over evil. This festival mainly significes the power of Durga matha. Dasara means ten days festival celebrations, in these three days we do Pooja for Maha Lakshmi, three days we do Pooja for Saraswathi, three days we do Pooja for Parvathi and the tenth day is celebrated as Vijayadasami. We offer rice kheer, lemon rice, curd rice and some sweets as Naivedhyam for Durga Matha.


Story behind the festival according to puranas is Demon Mahishashura pray Lord Brahma for several years and gets boon on immortality. Mahishashura considered women as weak among all and he took exception from women. That is except women no one can kill him. Now he became mighty and arrogant asura and wants to conquer earth, heaven and he tortured everyone as he has no fear. This became an issue and someone should teach him a lesson. All God's gathered and asked Parvathi Matha to help them. She got the strength of all God's and killed him.


Every one are happy and then started celebrating this festival every year with nice sweets and clothes. This is the story ofhow women became victorious over evil and established peace and harmony.
