Chapter 4

Janvi wasn't worried or nervous like any other girls, because she knew the marriage will not last long... Rajat too had the same mind set and in fact he threw a bachelor party for his close circle of friends. 

Days just flew by before Janvi realized the next day was the wedding. She received a call from Rajat, “Hey Janvi… do you remember we are getting married in the morning? Will you stick to your words Or will you fall prey to the emotions of your parents? If that’s what’s going to happen tomorrow let me know now I will cancel everything right away”. “don’t worry…. no matter what happens I will stand strong by my words and I hope you’ll do the same” replied Janvi. “Great to know, see you at the wedding hall” said Rajat. 

Both the families reached wedding hall the night before wedding as Muhurtham was scheduled early morning at 5:25am.

Janvi was surrounded with few of her friends and lot of cousins, as they were applying mehandi on her hands and legs, one of Rajat's friend came in knelt before Janvi and said “excuse me …Rajat wants to talk to you he is waiting in the terrace”. Upon hearing this all the girls around Janvi giggled, She went to terrace and she saw Rajat sitting with a group of friends consuming booze. They all saw Janvi they side eyed Rajat and walked away with a naughty smile on their faces. “Why did you ask me to come here?” Questioned Janvi, “no I didn't!!” replied Rajat taken aback. “But your friend came to me said you wanted meet me here” she said. “Oh these idiots I say…have no other work, sorry they played a prank on you I guess”. “No worries, Good night” said Janvi and walked away, a drop of tear fell from Rajat's eyes. “I wish I had never met you...just in a day you changed my thoughts and my actions. May be if I had never met you, today would have been a real deal, a true marriage” he thought to himself. Rajat's friends walked up to him and started teasing, he gave them a deadly stare and walked from there alone. Rahul ran behind him “dude! chill they were just trying to bring in some romance between you guys!”. “but you know this isn't an real wedding!” shouted Rajat. “stop screaming Rajat” ordered Rahul. “no one else here is aware of this setup”. Rajat couldn’t control his anger and punched a hole on the wall and walked away. 

On the other side Janvi was climbing down the stairs, her eyes welled up with tears. “it's my wedding today, but you very well know this is just an eye wash. I never thought such a day would come in my life, I would have been the happiest if it was you. You will never know what kind of pain I am going through” she thought to herself. “Hey what did he say?” Shouted one of her friends with excitement. “oh nothing…. he wanted check if I am comfortable here” Janvi changed the topic. 

Rajat slept really well but Janvi couldn’t……her past was taking away her inner peace. 

It was 3:30am, Janvi was woken up by her mother asking her to get ready for muhurtham... Janvi got up and walked into the washroom to shower. She was a very simple person, never loved to dress up too much. With simple makeup she looked gorgeous... Rajat was already there chanting mantras and the purohit asked the bride to come. Janvi came sat beside Rajat, her heart was beating fast. she was panicking so much that couldn’t look at Rajat's face, she quietly sat and said the mantras the purohit asked her to say. It was time to tie the mangal sutra, Rajat took it in his hands, she looked at Rajat and the Mangal Sutra, tears rolled down her cheeks. Rajat noticed that and whispered into her ears "Don’t worry… this is not forever… ". Janvi slightly smiled, Rajat tied the knot and filled her mang with kumkum, they were Husband and wife now and their marriage was official registered.
