Seema, what happened? asked Deepa who was her neighbour and a good friend of Seema. She had been noticing for quite some time that Seema was not her original chirpy self She seemed pensive and lost. In fact, they were not long time friends but had become friends after they came to know each other as neighbours and their hubby's worked with the same Organization. Deepa and Seema shared their thoughts most often and consoled one another when something troubled them. On repeatedly asking Seema revealed an incident that actually happened by mistake and it led to a lot of anguish in her mind. Seema's son had joined a very reputed School. He was into his fourth standard in School. Seema and her husband were happy for their Son who was a special child. He was troubled a lot by his classmates in the earlier School and both Seema and her husband had to go to his school and meet the teachers and request them to take more care of their child. But since the School was a Government School teachers were not so eager to help in this matter. The difference between a Private and a Government School unfortunately was glaring in this aspect, Seema's younger son too joined the same school in the first standard. So everything set they could relax now. For few months everything seemed ok and fine. Seema noticed their children were enjoying School and from what they narrated all was well.    But, things changed after a few months.

Seema's elder child seemed to be irked and irritated most of the time. He would get aggressive, would stop talking to people and seemed withdrawn. Their younger child was happy and enjoying the new School and friendship with his fellow mates. Seema was getting tensed each day. She could not tell her husband lest he would get worried and disturbed. She understood something was troubling her child. But what was that? Who would tell her,? Days passed by with no change in her child's behaviour. He was getting more and more aggressive to a stage where he started punching Seema every day on return from School. Seema used to calm him somehow every day. But one day he became so aggressive that she could not take it easy. She was hurt on the arm as her son had thrown a plate at her. In a fit of anger at what her child had done Seema just walked to the child's room and took out the School diary and wrote a note to his class teacher as to what he had done . As usual, her child got calm after some time. Seema forgot about what she had written in his diary and she became busy with her household chores of the day. Now, this was a big mistake on her side. A regret Seema feels even after so many years. She could not share it with anyone too. Of course, it was not done intentionally nor she expected things would turn that way. It was done on the spur of the moment which created anguish in the mind of the young kid and Seema his mother. Now the real matter was, Seema's son went to school as usual. The class teacher checked the diary as normal and what she did next was not usual nor normal. No person who works as a teacher that too a lady thinks to do what she did. She walks up to the board and asks all the students to pay attention to what she is going to read and she loudly reads out what Seema had written about her child in the diary. Irresponsible to the core. What followed then was simply a nightmare to the child and so to his mother. This might have continued throughout his School years and he went out his anger on his mother obviously. Seema has not revealed this yet to anyone let alone her husband or mother. This is the darkest secret that she wishes to forget, to recall would be a punishment and to share it with others will simply be a disaster. In the whole matter, the child was the sufferer for no mistake of his, his mother was the sufferer because she caused something that led to this suffering and the main culprit the teacher gets away without any suffering. Why life is so strange thinks Seema again and again after so many years with this dar secret buried in her heart.
