A Box Of Money

Kartik found a bag full of money while coming back from his job. He was drunk as today he was scolded by his Boss and to clear his mind of frustration he had a few drinks with his friends. 

He was walking and stumbling. Suddenly, he stumbled over a box. He fell and blood started oozing out of his leg. He scolded the box for being placed in his way. While he was yelling a thought struck his mind. 

"Why are you heavy?? What is there inside you?"

He opened the nicely packed box and found some clothes.

"Shit. Who has thrown the clothes like that? It looks like new ones"

He removed the clothes to check if he could use some of them. As he was removing more clothes, he found money. 

It was a lot of money.

Suddenly, he felt sober. He looked around if anyone could be watching him. He counted the bundles inside the box only. 

"Oh My God!! It is 20lakhs. Who could have left them like that?? It seems like it was a stack of boxes and one has been left here by mistake.."

He danced in enjoyment. 

"Now. It is mine. I have found it so it is mine now. I am a millionaire now!"

Quickly he packed the box the same as it was and headed to his home.

He went to the terrace of his house as he knew no one from his family members will go there. He hid the money below some abandoned things.

However, he removed the clothes from the box.

He went inside his house and shared the clothes. Luckily clothes suited and they were happy. Kartik was so happy that he could not eat dinner. He went to his room and started thinking about how he will spend the money. When everyone slept he went to the terrace. He glared at the money. He took one bundle with him and hid the box again and came back to his room.

That night he dreamt of having a lavish life. He woke up suddenly when in his dream he saw someone has found the hidden money. He immediately went up and check out. Everything was okay. 

He was on cloud nine today. He went to the office as usual. After Office, he went to a mall and bought pricey a pair of shoes, a watch, and a mobile phone.

He lied to everyone that he got a bonus for his excellent work at the office and at the office, he told everyone that his uncle lives in England and he had come to India to visit them. 

He went to an expensive hotel and had dinner. 4days passed by. Kartik was enjoying a blessed life. 

On the 5th day, when he came back home from the office he saw his neighbor Mamta crying badly and his mother was consoling her.

When she left, he asked the reason for her crying.

"Poor woman! Her son, Norin has a hole in his heart. For his treatment she needs money. His husband died 2 years back and since then she is managing everything on her own but gathering 20lakhs is difficult for her. I have promised her 2lakhs of help but still, she needs 18lakhs. God knows how will she manage", said his mother.

Kartik went to his room. He was in thought. He wanted to help her neighbor but also wanted to keep the money for himself.

He was still in dilemma and then only his cell phone rang. It was an unknown caller. He received the call. 

The caller threatened him to give back the money he had stolen from the box or they will kill the whole family.

At first, Kartik ignored the caller but the next day he noticed someone following him from home to the office and then back home. 

The caller called again and threatened him. Kartik threatened him back that he would go to the police. The caller disconnected the call. Kartik thought he had handled the situation but he was wrong. 

The very next day he just escaped from getting into an accident. Kartik got scared. His mother also told him that she met with a small accident in the market, which scared him more.

Kartik decided to give back the money. He was left with 18lakhs. He arranged the whole money in his backpack and left home. He saw the same guy in the crowd rally of Brijesh Thakar, who was a nominee for the upcoming elections. 

Kartik changed his mind. He went back to his home and gave that money to his neighbor Mamta. He told her that money was sent to her by Brijesh Thakar. 

Mamta immediately went to the hospital and deposited the money and the operation was done the very next day. 

Kartik called the media people and informed them about the kind gesture of Brijesh Thakar. Mamta was interviewed and she praised Brijesh Thakar and asked people to vote for him for the betterment of the community.

Brijesh Thakar came to the hospital to meet Mamta and the patient. He knew what had happened and who had done it. He got immense publicity. He ignored the money as he had already achieved what that money could have for him.

Kartik was called by Brijesh. He asked him if he need some favor in return. Kartik asked for a better job profile. Kartik was immediately granted his wish.

The money he found had changed life of so many around him.
